Black meets White + United BMW + Team RLL
United BMW and RLL had an event tonight since the Rahal Letterman race team is in town for Petit Le Mans. It was a chance to put my AW and another forum member's BSM next to each other. With all the insane race cars on hand I was a bit surprised our cars received so much attention. It was the first time I've seen BSM and I must say I'm liking it a lot. No regrets on my choice but the black 1M looked seriously evil.
Several times I watched people look at the 2 cars and I would say, "boy it sure looks better in black!" I got some great responses! "Yeah, we were just staying the same thing!" "Oh, it's much nicer in black!" and the usual...."Black looks great, when it's clean." Thanks to United BMW for a great event and it was great meeting folks from 1Addicts!!! I went with an alcantara flat bottom wheel and the performance carbon fiber rear lip which I need to install asap. One of their cars had the new wheel with the bells and whistles and I must say I do not like it. The screens at the 11-1 positions are no longer recessed and they felt as if they would be really annoying in the hands. I hope I'm wrong. Last but not least.....Good luck to Team RLL this weekend. It was great meeting all of you.

nice. Thanks for the pics Dan.
Are you driving the 1M to RA for Petit LeMans? I'll be there on Saturday and would love to meetup if you have the time. Cheers.

Yes, I will be there Friday and then returning on Saturday around 1 pm. I'll be the guy in the BMW corral drinking waaaay too much dark lager. They auctioned off a bunch of things last night and I grabbed VIP tickets for the BMW area.

God, I'm so on the fence about going. I was able to move my delivery up a week and I'm just ICHING to put some miles on the car. A trip there would put me at around 1000 miles (from PCD to Charlotte, then from Charlotte to Barber and back). I've never been to Oktoberfest before...what could I expect as a spectator? Would it be worth going?

V1,
You may be confusing 2 different events. We are talking about Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta this coming weekend. You mentioned O'Fest which is Oct 13-16. Barber is a great track for spectating as you can watch from many different places and the facility is top notch. There will be BMW vendors, project cars, and some very nice race cars. This is a premier event so people will be racing hard for points. Some of the C Mod cars are just sick! There will be a German touring car running in SM. (Sequential gearbox, air jacks....etc) I believe there's close to 80 entrants for the races. I've raced with 63 cars at Barber and that was a very intense time. For the racers the basic schedule looks like this: Fri has two practice sessions, qual and sprint Sat has one practice, qual, sprint and fun race Sun has qual and 2 @ 60 minute enduros Of course, there are tons of other things going on but I don't know the details yet. When the real schedule comes out I'll post it on the O'Fest thread. Quote:

Oktoberfest will actually be pretty cool as well. Myself and tkbrown went a couple years ago and it was pretty nice considering...

![]() What Dan said. I convinced an E30 M3 guy that lived in Milwaukee to come by Road America last year and he was really happy that he did, even just as a day drive up and back. Barber as a venue all alone is amazing. the grounds are spotless. The sand traps are manicured.. The tire walls have NEW tires... the armco gleams in the sunlight. To be able to go and see all manner of BMws in the paddock...the same cars in this thread above that are brought in from BMW will be there... Vendors like Will Turner, James Clay (Bimmerworld), and TC Kline will all be present... stop by their booths and you have a good chance of seeing them in person and talking with them about YOUR car. The Museum is about $12 and will take you about 2 hours if you are a car fan, and probably double that if you are a motorcycle fan. And of course you there will be club races... There will be some MEAN sounding CMod cars... you can pay for a charity lap in an M5 or a former race car like either an original M1, or a former PTG car... ( $ 25-50 for the ride, and they give you a USB stick with a video that has an in car view of the course and an INSIDE the car view of the driver and you, within minutes of you lap)... As far as watching the action on track... you can sit in air conditioned luxury and watch on closed circuit TV, or you can walk the beautiful grounds and watch from any of a half dozen or more vantage points, and check out the unique architecture.. For example... ![]() I could go on and on..

Funny, I've never noticed any of these things..... Don't forget the bath rooms. Heated showers and the fresh smell of roses complete the Barber experience!!! ![]()

I personally visited one of the sand traps.. and yes.. they do rake them..
And seriously..the tires in the tire wall are (were) brand new tires. I am sure they were defective in some fashion, but when I went there for the first time in 2004... every single tire was brand new.
