Hey - which emblems did you replace? Just the center-caps on the wheels?

I'm surprised at how that all looks, it's not half bad

I replaced them all (hood, trunk, and steering wheel too), but didn't actually replace them. I'm using vinyl stickers with CF patterns on them. However, JLevi sells complete red and black CF replacements which I'm going to get soon. The vinyl fades after a while and the red turns orange looking!

Wondering if anyone has pictures of this done on a 1 series convertible? I'm wondering if it just ends up being too much that it looks silly?

I haven't been able to find many good examples, but I am sure you guys will have some opinions.

Thanks in advance!
It really boils down to personal preference. If you like the blacked out look, your opinion is the only one that should matter. Personally I prefer to have a bit of silver or gunmetal to break up the darkness but to each their own. I've seen cars that have been completely blacked out look good too.

JCampea,

I'm the last person on earth that would try to tell you how your BMW should look. If you want to go to Sherwin-Williams and get the paint to do it in purple and green stripes with bright orange wheels then go for it if that's what suit you. However, if your primary reason for changing the looks of your car is the "Look at Me" factor, here is one of the great truths of life. When you say or think, "I wonder what they think of me (or my car)", the terrible truth is that most people are so busy thinking of themselves and their own lives that they're not thinking of you at all. Be your own man (or woman).

Allencic,

Thanks for the advice..."I'll try to be my own man" going forward...

I appreciate that you may be trying to give me some honest advice that I'm not looking for...but it comes about very preachy. Of course I can do whatever I want with my car...and the "look at me factor" is strictly that I enjoy BMW's, and that mine doesn't look like most others where I live.

No flame to you.

Back to black rims...they look great...I have the stock silver M rims, and I use them for my snow tires...

Jcampea... Nice vert!!!

I have the same combo and love it - Black/savanna vert'.

I like all black like what you have but I'm thinking of getting Matte grey wheels and custom matte grey grills/135i logo.

Thanks...have received many compliments on the car color/rim combo...In my stage of life many are buying SUV's for carting the kids around...my wife drives an X3...but my 135 Cab is the perfect alternative...plenty of space for my 2 year old, safe and sporty...love this car more every day

Gimlet I love your car. Want to mod mine similar to yours....currently have a cp-e towhook front plate and blackout grilles. Was wondering what you thought about ambergones on the LCI? I thought they might interfere with the top illuminated stripe on the headlight but I'm not sure how it'll look.

Sweet baby jesus your car is nice

Ha! Thanks man - I have to give credit to the photog for the stunnig pic. In reality the theme/mods I have are pretty common (there are a few subtilties that make mine a little different tho). 1speed's ride at the top of the page is more trick than mine.

I think you'd be good with the Ambergones - it won't interfere with the actual illuminated part at the top, and I think will barely cover the frosted edge of the top line. If anything, you could trim a bit off the top just in case.

Here's a shot of the ass-end just for kicks:

Looks real good man - I'm liking the roof spoiler and have been thinking about that route (time for more show now that the "go" is good for me). Is there a solution for removing the Shark-fin?

you can still have the look at me factor with silver, but if i had my car which has silver rims up against yours i think 9/10 would pick my car over yours simply cause it looks way cleaner and out of all the black on black cars on this post your is the most suspect on being clean. look like a lopsided McChicken nugget. just saying

ouch lol..

I think all color rims can have the wow factor as it really depends on the wheel style/size and what you do to your car (lowering helps X10000000%) lol.. but ya I don't think black on black will ever be subtle.

And yes a clean black car looks AMAZING.. till 5 minutes later when it gets dirty and you are back to square one.

And djpeetur i'd pick yours no offense to the other guy.

Your car looks AWESOME! And those picture are amazing as well. As much as I love being very lowered and having my hood, etc.. part of me wants to go for a look like yours (like mine had about a year ago). Looks aggressive but professional at the same time. The way I am now I get revved at by everyone in an EVO/STI and I'm sick of it!

Riss racing air scoops. Don't think they're around any more, but RPI and Cyba also make them if you search the forum. RPI might still make them in red and black, but I think Cyba is just black.

Actually, just checked, as of September 2011 RPI makes them in black but puts their logo on them, which Riss didn't do: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ght=RPI+scoops

Supposedly they help redirect more air into your stock snorkel and into your intake / engine bay if you have a DCI. I've had them on so long that I don't really notice a difference but I know some people swear their engine temps have gone down (by only a couple degrees, mind you) or have experienced less heat soak with DCIs due to them. I don't really know but they were a hundred bucks and I love how they look!
