I don't think Ian wants to install a Procede or a JB4 on his 1M.

The JB4 and Procede aren't your typical piggybacks as they are very advanced. The biggest downside to a tune for me is - poor value, dealer can reflash back to stock and you need to get a retune after each mod. I don't see many tune flashed N54's putting down big numbers or solid times as yet.

Yes, I don't have a choice in my N55. I first had a JB3 but no RHD. Harness was a pain, so moved to Procede for that and other reasons. Not much between the 2. On 1M I definitely would go a flash tune, not piggyback

ESS is handheld flash which plugs into OBD-II port, so can load stock back yourself before taking to dealer and reload after... Easy

That's what I like about it too Ian, not as cool as the APR tune ie: change settings on the fly with the cruise function, but one can delete and reload the tune and the price includes the "box" to do it with.

Not sure.
It is also going to be more expensive that the ESS as well, and I need to take the car to Melbourne, which means ESS for me. Now, I just need to figure out if I need to upgrade the charge pipe and DV with the added boost. Especially a few 1M had blow off their charge pipe.

+1 it has all been said before.... Piggybacks are tricking the ECU, and they get great results, but I never have that 100% confidence with them. An flash tune of maps is integrated and working with the ECU, no trickery of what feedback various sensors are giving. Plus trip to dealer is easy reload of stock maps.

I only went PROcede/JB because on my N55 there was no other handheld option. On the 1M it is great that BMW haven't shut the door on the handheld flash option like ESS, Cobb, Dinan, EuroCharged etc. Be good to see some more results of these tunes on 1M coming through over the next few months, and then make a decision on the best choice... ESS does have a good sensible write up though!

Alpine might beat me to it . Still don't understand why I am doing it - 1M doesn't need more power.

Sparoz, Joe would you consider a VO painted grill? the ones from IND?

Similarly, I don't believe I have seen a AW with a AW painted grill either.

Most have gone for the black grill.

I am not fuss with cosmetic mods at this stage. Only hidden ones as they don't need approval.

Has anyone else noticed that the front drivers side tyre rubbing on the bottom corner of the guard.
Mine has actually worn the paint away, and is now chewing into the guard.

Can't work out how to attach the photo from my iPhone library to this post.

Ouch, that can't be right, that's typically a big gap on the 1M's fronts?

Had another good look at whilst my son was turning the wheel lock to lock..

He weighs 90kg, and although the car was stationary with no body roll, it still has a good 3cm clearance from the scuff..

Could there be that much body roll to cause this scuff ??..

Any other 1M's out there noticed this on the drivers side front?

Unless this scrape was there before delivery from unloading on the carrier, and I missed it the first time I washed the car.
