Just got home from work and installed the AFE Stage 2 Sealed Cold Air Intake.

Took about 1Hr.. had to remove the rear wiring harness, HVAC air box and rear cowl, just to get access to the rear hose clamp, and to make installation possible..
( wasn't in the instructions ...)

Very, very tight fit..

Took for a test drive..Car feels a lot more responsive in the higher rev range in 2nd and 3rd/4th..

All up, deffinately worth it..looks great and few extra ponies..(10.5Kws claimed)

First pix shows all the hardware removed and the AFE placed in position to align, before final installation.

They are a nice neat fit Steve..

You might not get as much gains as the DCI's, but these look neater and less rice...

You can always leave the AFE air box lid off, for extra gains on the track..

I much prefer a closed system to keep the heat away. A 10 degree change in IAT at 350 Kelvin is close 3%. I was looking at some K&N option, but there are some pretty bad reviews on its filtration. What filter does the aFe use?

You can get either the Blue oiled or Grey dry filter..

Got the grey dry, after advice from Peter@Advan..

Thanks mate.. They are nice 83mm tips..

Had to cut back the connecting pipe, to get the tail pipes sitting flush wish diffuser, unlike the OEM tips which stick out to far, like a sore thumb IMO.

Joe, do you have any problem with rubbing at full lock after the spring change? Finally took sometime out investigating noise at full lock which has happened for a while and the tires are rubbing.

Only heard it once on full right hand lock, doing a U turn.. And the road has some gradient also..

But you haven't lowered yours yet, or have you.??

What size tyres and offsets are you running on the front?

I haven't lowered mine yet, offset is 22 so 9mm wider on the fronts. Same tyre size. The problem has been there before I change so it is not new. Only up the drive way and doing a U turn on a particular road where I park at work rubs on full lock.

Had my car on a gradient on my driveway and turn full lock and it just touch.

Just looked back on the fender rubbing thread and looks like lower probably won't make a difference on how it rubs.

Unfortunately there is probably no solution apart from not have my car on full lock. Stiffer springs might help

Went on a 395km round trip today to Berry and back today.. Wanted to give the AFE CAI a run in.

Headed of through the Royal National Park Loftus about 8.00am, up through windy roads Bundeena, and around to Stanwell Tops, then settling at Scarborough Pub for Brekky .. Outside temps where 8.5deg C through the RNP, perfect for a drive.

Then down through Austinmer and headed South on the Freeway for lunch at Berry and back home mostly freeway.

The Afe intake, although only claims 10 extra killer wasps, proved to be one of the best mods to date.. Torque down low has increased , giving a ultra smooth power band through the lower to mid rev range.

Infact, had a few hairy moments ( ( MDM ON )through the National Parks twisties, whilst "testing" ( TL not impressed.. )

Overall the car performed as expected and more..

The biggest surprise was the fuel consumption.. Reset the computer on the onset of the trip and final reading, after 395km of " spirited driving was 8.9ltrs/100km.. Go figure.
