I have been in sunny and humid Townsville for the past four days.

Just a bit of info for all the 1M owners..

I was at Advan Performance today tinkering around with Pete's left over 135i and 1M, N54 midpipes..

Have positive proof that the resonator on the 1M mids is just cosmetic.. That is, its a Y piece pipe, covered by the resonator shell, to make it look functional.

This would be the cause of the all drone, as it would just boom within the shell..

Makes a lot of sense for all who have replaced the mids with a after market midpipe, or the N55 mids, and in so, eliminating the drone..

The pix I downloaded from the US forum, where another member also cut open a 1M resonator to inspect..

Just as tid bit, I thought the 1M lads would find interesting.

FYI - the akra just moved the drone to a different Rev range - aroudn 1600-1800, it is still there. However, it is much more liveable. There is I guess a possibility the new drone is caused by something else I put in or remove.

I remember reading this on the 1M section, Dackel had posted up some pics and part numbers to prove that there are n54, n55 and n54 1M mid pipes.
I'm pretty sure my berk mids don't have a resonator either, I wanted that section to just be straight thru.
I know you had the n55 mids Joe but I always thought the resonator is robbing some killerwasps. I don't do very long freeway drives in the 1M for the drone to bother me, I don't actually notice it.

Yep...thats where I pinched the pix from..

To be honest, its not any quieter with the N54 mids hooked up, than the N55's, coupled to the Mesiterschaft axle back... Even the drone is same, if not worse with the OEM mids.

Last Dyno at Advan, I had the N55's on and pulled 275.1 Killer wasps..
Thats not bad considering my bolt ons ( and no meth like some ), so the resonator wouldn't of robbed me of any kws..
