Squeaking Sound

Hi,

My 135i has developed a strange sound coming from the engine bay. It sounds like a up and down squeaking sound. I've had a listen and with the bonnet up, I can't seem to figure out where it is coming from, possibly somewhere on the drivers side down low. It doesn't seem to be weather, or engine temperature dependent and started of intermittently but now happens all the time. The car has just ticked over to 2,000km. It is loud enough that I can hear it clearly inside the car when stopped at the lights with all windows up, and is obviously louder when outside of the car.

I have taken it into the dealer, and they had a listen. I was told that they didn't know what it was and that 'hopefully it should go away'. I have have booked it in to have it looked at, but they are unable to look at it for over 3 weeks (very annoying since I've only had the car for a week!).

Has anyone experienced anything similar, as it is driving me crazy!

Cheers,
Thomas

Garage List
2009 BMW 135i  [2.88]
I have noticed a squeaking sound, but only when I turn the engine off, or when I have just pressed the accelerator. Sounds like a different issue to yours though.

I have been told it is my downpipes vibrating on a panel and only happens at certain frequencies...

Sorry I can't offer any other help!

Sounds like something rubbing? Or like a fan belt squeeeel?

Remember there's not a lot of room down there. I've heard of people rubbing their way through aircon pipes!

Thanks for the quick replies!
It sounds like a belt — was just wondering if it was something common, that could give me a little peace of mind for the next three weeks.

no idea what the noise is, but to wait three weeks is B.S. park it in the driveway & demand they look at it.unless it is not a big concern to you.

I'll pay that I guess the mice can't get around running in the opposite direction!
