How to remove N55 Engine Cover?

Hi guys -

I'll apologize in advance for what's probably a stupid question, but how do you remove the engine cover from an N55 engine?

I've got a vibration / rattle that sounds like it's coming from deep in the dash, and after some reading, decided to check the engine cover to find that the back was somewhat loose. I can't, however, remove the front with the light amount of force I applied. Before I pulled harder, I wanted to confirm it slides straight up at the front as well.

Thanks,
Bryan

Someone here should know how? My car is a N54 so I don't know. Here are some pics of the N55 engine though. I would just tug (up!) on the plastic cover and see what is holding it on. You can always ask your local dealer how it comes off. Tell them you want to change the spark plugs.

I am surprised that I could not find any videos or pics on how to remove the cover. It just be something simple then. It looks like you must remove the top of the airfilter box and cross over pipe. Then I would think there must be some 6mm allen head screws holding teh cover in place like on the N54.

Stupid question but when u were pulling up did u hav the oil cap removed or does it need to b removed I know some cars when you take the engine plastic cover off you have to remove the oil cap cuz the plastic surround goes under it as well. Sounds dumb to mention i know but hey sometimes I can't find my keys and they are in my pocket lol.

pull the back up first by one inch up.
Then pull toward you.

or stop at your dealer and ask the rep to show you how...

Thanks guys. I can see how the back of the cover attaches (two spades pressing into rubber-lined slots), and I'll need to feel around for the front attachment point this weekend.

Hyper1 - Do you mean I should be pulling up or towards the front of the car for the front attachment point? I can't quite tell based on the picture of the underside of the Evolution Racewerks cover (picture attached)

Cheers,
Bryan

Pull up on front first and then pull forward.
