Arrow BMWP Short Shift

Thanks to some advice from friends in Singapore, I had just the shift lever from the BMWP SSK installed in my car i.e. part#25110434217

The shift action is definitely shorter and much more direct. It took me a week to get used to it, but once I had CDV it felt perfect. I think it suits the character of the car better than stock, plus peace of mind of genuine BMW part.

It's not tricky, just a bit involved with mid-pipe & driveshaft needing to come out. Pete@Advan (Skycat) is across the install detail and can help anyone else out.

Thanks Saurabh. Ordered mine yesterday after seeing yours over the weekend. Great OEM mod. Can't wait to get this installed as I have always felt the throw is just a bit too long for the 1M, however still nowhere as long as an E9x M3 MT.

I actually also ordered a new plastic bearing and 2 clips upon recommendation from other sources when fitting this.

Parts are:
1x shift arm lever 25110434217
1x bearing for lever 25111220600 (optional)
2 x clips 25117571899 (optional)

I will take before/after measurements of throws and height and post them

my shift knob is always sliding up/ out of place just enough to make a difference for me to notice. I think I may go this route! Very cool and thanks for sharing!

are the shifts a lot less smooth (or more notchy) with either the BMWP or UUC? Any comments from owners?

BMWP is slightly notchier, but not ridiculously so.

At first yes, but after a few thousand miles the shifter breaks in very nicely. I have had my Perf SSK on my 135i for 50K kms and I really love it. BMW should have built the car with it.

Ian, where did you source your shift arm from? The dealer doesn't list that part number in OZ. Cheers

They can't ship to Oz, so you need to use a re shipper.

Thanks Ian. Will be good to hear what your thoughts are on the shift feel. The standard shift is perfectly weighted in my opinion - wouldn't want to mess with that. The SSK in the 135i was perfect

ANY bmw dealer should be able to order the Perf SSK lever... it IS a bmw part after all.

Fitted mine today. It is really short and firm, but good fun on gear changes. I will post up some pics soon with before and after measurements. It does sit about 1" higher. Even the dealer gave big thumbs up

How does it sit 1" higher? That seems a lot. You mean the actual gear knob sits higher? Do you think that might annoy you? Looking forward to seeing the pics

The new shift leaver is actually longer. See photo in OP, it is the longer one. Don't think it will annoy me ergonomically, but aesthetically would look nice if lower, but certainly worth it for the shifting experience.

My car is in the workshop until next week, so will take photos then
