Just wanted to add this video of the HMS system for your listening pleasure.
I did not see this video in the thread already, so if it's already here I apologize.
Turn those speakers up and enjoy

We have downpipes and Rear exhausts for this car and usually have them in stock so shipping within the UK is not a problem. You do not gain much on these cars by removing the secondary cats. The primary cats are the restrictive ones.

Does anyone have the HMS system that can comment on performance gains etc? Also, what rear diffuser is that?

For sound, rather change mid pipes to Berk or MadDad. Any mod can effect warranty, but has to be proved to be the cause of the problem.

Thanks for your feedback, so what your saying is changing the mid pipes will give the same effect (louder sound) as changing the exhaust?

Changing mids will give more power and deeper sound. Changing the axle back doesn't give power really, and noise is dependant on which muffler you choose.

From the pictures of the axle back internals, it looks quite restrictive to me.

Before & after dynos show secondary cats in the mid pipe are very restrictive. I gained 12Kw from putting on MadDad mids and the sound is great. Other choices are N55, Remus, Akra or Berk mids

Mid pipe gains are well documented. My question is what is your basis for stating that there are little gains to be had from an axle back exhaust.

See many different types of axles-backs on 1M's. Before and after dyno's show VERY slight gains. I run a Remus axle-back, but seen Akras, Miesterschafts, Evolves etc... very very small gains. It has the benefit of better sound... that's why I did it, not performance.

For anybody in the know... Is there any reason why no one has manufactured a replacement mid section pipe that does away with the two branch runs and goes with just a single 3" or 3.5" design with minimal length two branch split to pair up at the DP end?

I have heard that some of the 135i guys in race/track trim have used this exhaust type setup.

Pros and Cons?
