No 6MT/M Sport package on 2012 135i?
My CA just told me that I could not order the M Sport package with a 6 speed manual transmission. He said every time he configured it and printed the summary, the 7 speed auto would be included. It sounds like a glitch in the system. If this is true it would be impossible to order sport seats if you wanted a manual transmission. Is there someone who knows how to override the configurator system or contact a rep that can confirm this info?

this could be true. i noticed BMW just changed the configuration, which even eliminates many color options with m pkg. Try your preference on BMWNA and see what's happening. I highly doubt your CA would cheat you on this, more than likely the new policy from BMW. Not having 6MT is a true pity though, my taste.

I just received my 2012 M sport 135i with 6-speed manual about a month ago. Build date was in early October.

I'm getting my 6MT/M-Sport 135i in a few days and my build date was late September (Week 44)

Okay this is encouraging information. The CA said he was able to get a production number but he had to delete the M Sport package to keep the 6MT. He will be contacting the "rep" to check on adding M Sport. Is there an alternate configurator that may be used as a substitute?

Any updates? Did they seriously take the 6MT away from M-Sport? I sure am glad I ordered mine late September then, I was initially gonna wait to see if they'll have good offers around Christmas or New Years.

Good to go now. I knew it was a computer glitch. Thanks for the info guys. I insisted that the exact same car had been ordered recently by forum members, so my CA made a few more attempts at the configurator and it finally accepted my specs. AW/Black/AW trim/M Sport...ED in Feb, PCD in March.

I'm trying to order now as well and I specified 6-speed and when the dealer sent me over the order sheet today it was 7-speed DCT auto selected, he said he'd look into it tomorrow morning for me.. Hopefully I don't have to do too much convincing that it's an option.. Plus.. Shouldn't the price then go down $500 by switching over to the manual?

The online config on bmwusa.com now forces you to have the DCT if you select the M-Sport as well, if you try to manually unselect the DCT, it takes the M-Sport package off.

I noticed that as well. When you first start to build a 135i, it defaults to DCT. When you get to packages and add M Sport and then go to options and remove DCT, it does remove both DCT and M-Sport. But then you can re-select M-Sport by itself. |

My dealer re-sent me the order form today and added 6MT to it as a N/C item and removed DCT and brought the price down by $500. Excellent! I got the car at invoice! Because the price he initially gave me was without DCT and then took off another $500 because I said DCT was on the order form. And before I had him at $500 above invoice.

I had the same issue when ordering mine. Add to that the incredibly slow performance of the salesman's computer, and it made for a long ordering process as he kept working out the right sequence of entries to get rid of the DCT selection after selecting the m-sport package.
The weird part is that I don't remember having any issues myself when entering the information on the BMW site. |

This is something that seems to only be happening since the beginning of December. I had the same issue when ordering my car this past Saturday but my salesman quickly recognized this issue and just entered it all manually. Hopefully BMW gets this little glitch fixed so no one ends up with something they did not want.

Had the same issue today but with a 128i & the non-m sport option. We activated the sports option, then turned off the auto transmission. The image of the interior change to reflect an MT, but when we printed out the summary, the automatic transmission showed up. They managed to deal with it somehow... Or so they tell me. We shall see...

I have a 2012 135i M sport with 6mt sitting in my garage right now, however my BMW owners circle page still shows the car spec'd with Paddle Shifters/DCT. There is no indication from BMW USA that the car is equipped with the manual transmission that is so definitely bolted to my car. FYI, car was ordered in October of 2011.
BMW is just sloppy with their website, and/or confusing with their ordering process.
