You just need to eyeball the cut. The sleeve that attaches the new exhaust overlaps both the old and new pipes, so it gives you some wiggle room (a few inches) either way. The cut doesn't really effect how much of the pipes stick out because the exhaust is hung from fixed points.

Hey guys I have a question....

if you do not do your own filter and oil change than getting the performance intake is ideal because BMW will do everything for you plus will be covered under the warranty of the car.
If you do your own filter and oil change than it really does not matter what intake you get.
