New 135i owner

Just picked up a beautiful 2008 135i Jet Black on Taupe stripped 6mt. My previous car was an e36 m3. I have to say there is a night and day difference. I love the torque the car has, but I am a bit unimpressed with the stock exhaust. My e36 m3 had a great sounding Stromung exhaust, so I know it's not really fair to compare. New exhaust will be the first mod. Love the AA exhaust but will probably do the BMW Perf. exhaust because of warranty. Speaking of warranties...

I am planning on getting it certified through BMW. Is this a good route, or should I look at aftermarket options? It is still under factory warranty (48000 miles) and is going in on Thursday to be serviced. Although the car is running great, I want them to check the squeeky brakes, and the HPFP. Is there anything else you guys can recommend I ask about when I take it in? Your input is much appreciated! I love this car btw! Here's a couple pics the new beast...

Interior color combo FTW! +1 on leatherette as well. Not sure about the warranty question though, but I am sure there are other members who know what to do.

Have them check spark plugs as well. Prob time for those as well. Check brakes like you mentioned, as they just replaced my pads on mine. BMW Extended warranty is way to go if you plan on warranty.

It honestly wasn't my first choice, but I got a hell of a deal on it. The leatherette looks brand new and it has almost 50k on it!

Thanks for the advice. I have until 60,000 miles to get it certified, so I am not in a huge rush.

I agree completely. The e36 was something special, but it was a 13 yr old car. It was definitely showing it's age. It was time for something new... Any mods planned for your 135i?

Nice new ride! I still miss my old E36, was a great car. I have a 128 vert on the way now. How is the interior space compared to the E36? What about suspension feel and acceleration?

Definitely. I love that you rarely see 1 series, much less 135i coupes. The 3 series are a dime a dozen, so that made my purchase that much better. I would love to check out your 1 series some time.

The interior space is basically the same in the back seat, maybe a little more. In the front, it definitely feels a lot more spacious. I think the manual seats help with that. In regards to suspension, it is much smoother than my e36. I also had full coilovers, camber plates, and x-brace, so the e36 was very stiff. The acceleration is really impressive. I definitely notice some turbo lag below 1500 rpm, but beyond that the car pulls like a freight train. I am excited to see what the Cobb AP is going to do to it.

Congrats on the Clean previously owned car! I went the same route and picked up a 2009 135i Msport package last December. I would suggest going the BMW warranty route as I will be doing.

Exhaust was the FIRST thing I needed as well. I ended up going with a Full Borla exhaust setup.... it's a tad loud with the straight mid-pipes, but I love it..

To be honest, I love the stock "tone" but I just wish it were a lot louder. It is a great car. The more I drive it, the more I love it!
