I wish I could get the production number to track
the 128I I ordered back on 1/24 but my dealer, Ferman BMW of Palm Harbor Florida, can't seem to get that number to me. They're putting most of their effort into getting me to finance thru them rather than using the financing I already arranged thru my Credit Union.
Is there any way I can get this thru BMWUSA based on the name of the dealer, daye ordered, my name and order details? Alpine White 128i with sport package and an alarm. |

I got a printout at the time of my order from the dealer that showed my production number on it. If you ordered 1/24 you should have a VIN by now too.
I wonder if you're on the same boat I'm on that just docked in NY today. I ordered 1/25. |

There aren't any numbers on my purchase agreement. For some reason I thought it would come into Jacksonville because I'm in Florida.
Good to hear something about timing for somoene who placed an order when I did. This is the second time I asked for the number and the last response I got from my salesman was "It's the end of the month and all the managers are busy". There aren't any numbers on my purchase agreement. They're going to be getting some nasty reviews from me because I have a leased car and have to make a decision on wether to extend the lease another month if the BMW isn't in by 3/16. Any guesses on when you'll actually get yours? |

No there's a separate printout they should have given you with the production order. It's not the same as the purchase order.
Your dealer sounds worse than mine. It's not end of the month anymore ask them for the VIN. That's what you need to track it on the ship. Production order won't help you there. I was really hoping to have it early next week but based on some of the threads here it could take 7-10 days from dock to dealer.

I was living outside Boston 1998 and came down here on a business rip that winter when we had over 100 inches of snow and they were having a tough time getting planes in and out of Logan. I realized there's a better way to live.
The hight today was 78. I haven't owned an ice scraper in years. I called my salesman and he doesn't have the production number because the Sales Manager just resigned. I guess the month end meeting didn't go well. If I don't get that in a few days I'll start making noise about a refund. Especially if it's true that I could get one thru Costco's buying service for 3% over invoice and then a $500 rebate. That would save me $1,270 |

This winter has been great compared to last year's nightmare. Maybe in a couple months I'll actually be able to use that convertible!
At this point screw the production number and just get the VIN if you can. Sure sounds like you're getting the run around. Bad part about getting your money back is that you have to wait all over again. |

I wouldn't wait. I'd either find something on one of 4 local dealers lots and settle for 'not alpine white (ack) or go buy a Lexus or Infiniti off the lot. I've reached my limit for B.S.

I finally got the production number by walking in there tonight.
AND THEY PLACED THE ORDER WRONG Am am so ***ed off. The original purchase was a three ring circus of every sleezy sales technique in the book and now when I finally pull the production number out of them, like pulling teeth, it's wrong. I am fuming. I'm not taking the car. I didn't pay top dollarand wait to get a car I copuld have pulled from a lot a month ago. This site, Bimmerfest, Edmunds, Angies List, all the Dealer rating sites I can find, Yahoo, Yelp, my co-worker who wants a 328i convertible and anyone else are going to get the full story of this whole dsaster. I want a BMW but if this is what happens I'll switch to something else. I don't know. Maybe a private used sale if I can find a very recent car with a carfax. It can't be worse than dealing with Ferman BMW. That's Ferman BMW of Palm Harbor Florida Last edited by Dave_ph; 03-01-2012 at 07:52 PM.. |

How do you know they ordered it wrong? It's important: the BMW USA tracking website is not reliable. My options changed a hundred times on that site. If the purchase order is wrong, then obviously that's a big problem. But if it's just the website then it's hopefully not a problem with the order but just the typical BMW website...

Lol. Could be worse...
But seriously, when my car completed production, the website said I had zero options. This was before it said that I had ordered a white car (when I ordered black). So everything should still be good. |

I'm going forward with this because I have a leased car to return and I don't want to restart the order process with someone else. When I tried to rebuild it at BMWUSA and TRUCARE I couldn't get the paddle shifters with the sport package.
They're doing nothing to rectify the situation. I pray I get a satisfaction survey from BMW. |

Have you guys looked through available inventory again? Considering the mess up, if they can find a car that's close (but has more options...), the extra cost should be covered by the dealer. But I wouldn't put yourself into a car you don't want as a result of a dealer being stupid. |

Searched and there' still nothing close.
Seems like they should swallow the cost of an upgrade but they didn't offer. They offered to do something, I think it was called a "120", which is a reorder but faster than a "Priority 1" to have another car here in about 5 weeks. I just don't trust them not to screw it up or that I wouldn't get a surprise on the bill at the end. All in all they seem pretty entitled to overcharge and then screw up. I was paying $1,200 over invoice. You'd think they'd want to make me very happy. The other option offered was a refund of my deposit. That's tempting but it means going thru the whole process again with another dealer and then waiting for another order. I left the phone call with an I'll get back to you when I decide what I want to do. A while ago I e-mailed a new offer for the car as is with a request that they either leave the new purchase agreement or a check at the desk for me to pick up in the morning. I'm looking thru the stock of CPO 128 and 328 Coupes at the other local dealers now if he chooses refund. Restarting the research and pricing process again for used cars is a pain. Not what I had in mind for this weekend. |

Wow, that's horrendous customer service. Seems like an amateur operation they're running over there. I would pull the deposit and never look back. If you can get a comparably priced G37S, I would jump on it. You should also call BMWNA and report the dealership.

Like I said, BMWUSA, EDMUNDS, Angies list, a couple of dealer rating sites and The BBB are going to hear about it. They already locked themselves out of selling to a coworker of mine who wants a 328i convertible because he watched the whole thing.
I'm stuck right now because there's a limited supply of 128is in Florida (loaded down with Premium Pacjkages) and my VW GTI is coming off lease just as this car is supposed to be arriving. Also, I have to go in for ear surgery ASAP. They took advantage and ran out the clock on me for a month before I found out they screwed up the order so by god I'm going to cost them so much in reputation and time dealing with the shit storm I unleash that they're going to wish they gave me a car for free. I had let the price slide and go up just so I could complete this quickly and easily and they still managed to screw up the one thing left to screw up. Quick and easy and they their service department gets rave reviews. And they're exactly 1 mile from my house. |
