ZZZ 1M Mods ongoing

Just one question (I hate to ask), but how does your dealer feel about the mods?

Thanks! I asked service manager @ 2k service. They were ok with mods like exhaust etc. It has to be proved that a mod directly caused the fault.

Two examples were:
1. HPFP fault can't be exhaust related.
2. a bust turbo blade can be related to a non-standard air intake.

Dealer was interested in the mods I planned & welcomed me to run them past them prior if any concerns. That said they did pick up I had a aftermarket magnetic sump plug & and a non-BMW oil filter (I had a Bosch filter), all which was noted against my VIN.

I had similar convo with my SA (Ian - I think we use the same dealer).

Their view was that they would have to prove that the mod was cause of failure. On that basis they felt axle back exhaust "should" be fine, but cat back is less simple.

Ultimately it comes down to the relationship you have with the SA/management.

True, dealer can't approve/condone any mod. But, they said they will always be on my side, rather than BMW AU. I have 2 claims on my 1M so far (paint & wheel defects) and I must say the dealer has seemed to side with me... and take the 'fight' to BMW AU.

Form a relationship with your dealer. Mine got a bottle of good wine for arranging a free 2k service!

Sorry for the minor thread jack, but aussie warranty for nice mods like yours (ours) really interests me.

Another fair example? Changed to the Lux AE's (which we all know and love), and then an adaptive headlight failure down the track... Once they know you have them and it's noted on their books your AE's are white, how could you ever justify a claim against BMW knowing you modified the headlights in the first place?

With LUX AE's I think you are screwed.... doubt they'd notice though. Techs are not there to check for mods each time it is there for a service. My dealer hasn't noticed my AE's, nor have they noticed the mid-pipes... just the sump plug & filter, as they did an oil change.
Water got in my 135i's light and whole Xenon was replaced under warranty... naturally I took the car in with stock AE's ... the car had the LUX AE's in on prior visits.

No more mods until summer. FMIC, charge pipe... maybe Cobb ...depends on how big my bonus is

When I picked up my 1M, I told all that I would have ZERO mods..

I was always going to mod the 1M, but since the ESS tune haven't got a chance to install the rest .

ER Charge pipe, forge DV and Wagner FMIC are going on the car on the 6/6.

Interestingly when they search my vin for midpipe it shows the catless one. I think once it's produced they don't need the cats to comply with adr as I think Australia is EURO4 and not EURO5.

Joe, what spring rates are you using? Are you going to update the dampers?
