Recall notification for battery - BMW 1 Series Coupe Forum / 1 Series Convertible Forum (1M / tii / 135i / 128i / Coupe / Cabrio / Hatchback) (BMW E82 E88 128i 130i 135i)

Hi guys. I just got a letter from BMW NA about the possible recall for my car. Is that mean if I got the letter my car is affected? Or that's just a reminder that a recall is going on for 1 series? If that's not indicate a recall for my car, can I just contact my preferred dealership and ask them whether my car is affected or not?

Really appreciate any comment and opinion guys. Never experience this before so really need your help. Thank you guys.

Pretty sure that means youre affected. Usually they send letters out to affected customers based off vin numbers. Does the letter have your cars specified vin on it? If not ya just call the dealer up give them your vin and they can check for you

Let me check it again. To me it seems a general letter but I might be wrong for missing the vin. If there is no specified vin, I will call my preffered dealer then. Thanks man!

Getting my recall work done on Tuesday. I never received a letter, just called my dealer. My SA told me less than 1% of the cars effected reported any issues. I am one of the 99% that had no issues related to this recall.

The SA did tell me that the job is 3 hours long, as they have to reprogram the car because of cutting the power supply.

Call the BMWNA number with the last 7 digits of your VIN and they'll let you know if it was effected or not.

That's why, never really experience something bad with the battery but I will check with my SA and if needed with BMW NA to make sure nothing bad happens. Hopefully they can make it quicker than 3 hours

. Last time when I just did oil change and alignment, it took me about 2 hours

Makes me wonder if it's VIN specific or all years. My production date was Sept or October I believe...I'm actually going to the dealership to have them print out the warranty maintenance history so I'll have them look into there and post back.

Mine was made on July 2, 2009.

Just had mine done. Took 'em a half day for the battery recall and an alignment.

I just bought mine so I never got a letter, but called the dealer and said I was affected. Dropped it off yesterday after work and they gave me an f30 with 78 miles as a loaner. I don't hate it as much as I thought I would...

I'm also having them check on my inflatable side bolsters as they don't hold air for more than 2 minutes. Glad I still have the warranty! How sweet would it be to score a set of brand new seats...

Awesome! That would be pretty sweet...I have the manual sport seats and prior to picking up my car I kept reading all these reviews about people having a hard time getting a proper seat set up. I don't know what those reviews were all about..the sport seats are awesome and it took 2 seconds to set up to my liking. Would like to have power lumbar though

I think a lot of people don't understand the function of the manual controls. I couldn't agree more though, near perfect seats sans lumbar.

Also wish I had heat.
