Stock exhaust tips replacement
As the title says.. I would love to exchange just the exhaust tips for some with a few more millimeters and non chrome. Anyone have any solutions for this? without having to cut the stock ones off and weld new ones on.
Yes, the simple solution is a new exhaust but I am not looking to do that. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

They should and would be the perfect choice IMO, little pricey just for tips though.

Also, they are like 8 inches long..way too long for the OEM muffler.

Also... I have looked into having the OEM tips removed and replated with Black Nickleplate.
Inexpensive option, but I also wanted more mm in diameter of the pipes and slightly longer tips, so that they tuck in under the diffuser deeper. OEM tips are not welded on.. Can be tapped off with a small block of timber and hammer.

Just do what I did, have them powder coated black
btw, the tips are just slipped on, they are held by 4 spring tabs, just grab, twist, pull, you will eventually get them off without tools. The M3 tips, might fit, both they are at least a few inches longer, and are held with rivets. Paid a whopping 50$ for the powder coating...

But even the 135i tips don't fit.. gazz had to have reducers welded to the tips, so they would fit the OEM 1M Muffler.

How hard is it to remove chrome plating? Is this something I could do?

They should dip them in a abrasive stripper, then nickle plate to what ever colour you choose.

If I want to return to stock look, I can just have them re-chromed, way cheaper than buying new tips...

Are there any other options out there? Carbon tips? Black? Aftermarket tips for the 1M? Looking at an alternative to buying a new exhaust system and that is N55 mid pipes and just change the tips to something black or carbon. Prefer larger diameter tips.

Anyone have any updated info on this topic for the 1M? I went to my local muffler shop and they said that all of their tips are SAE not metric. In addition he said the stock tips are mounted with an air space so they don't get as hot to avoid melting the adjacent plastic panel (don't know if this Ian's an actual prob.. but that's what he said). Would love to find something that doesn't have the roller end in black or carbon. A little bigger would be nice. Going to be installing Maddad midpipes so don't really want to add new exhaust. Spy photos of new DINAN exhaust look perfect to me.
