135i n55 with dct feels "different" after service

Hi guys.

I've got a n55 135i with dct. Just took it to the dealer for service after thinking that my wheel bearings were causing some noise. They couldn't replicate that issue but there was an open recall from 2010 or so. They did a software update for it. Since this (two days ago), the car feels... different. I can't tell what it is exactly but it no longer leaps when I press the pedal partially I don't know if this is an issue of throttle response or if the low end power is decreased. I don't like the feeling, but am not sure if this is a simply my perception. In addition the exhaust is more muted at idle.

I've seen some threads about people complaining about these same effects, but has there ever been a conclusion? Is this a real effect or just perception. If it is real, what's the best course of action to correcting it.

The recall performed was SI B28 01 10 (which claims that they will perform any other updates that you don't have in the text)

p.s. it changed the behavior of my turn signal to not stay on for 3 blinks when partially pressed <- i loved that

p.p.s. also now when switching dtc on i feel the car kind of slow/settle down?

You can set the 3blink from the key settings using the inboard computer. Left lever.

I don't have a DCT, but I also feel my car is "different" after the software update.

Can't explain it, but it feels different.

Seems like that crappy software update is still being done, i thought i had seen a thread where service bulletin was released in Dec 2011 to fix this laggy update. Basically you have to press the pedal all the way down and the car wakes up right?? Yeah i went through this crap it was very annoying i ended up getting the PPk installed to fix it. Good Luck guys.

Here's a link to my thread.

Is it like the power doesn't come on until you press the pedal 3/4 of the way??

Power delivery is different.

Inotice the whoosh of turbo doesnt come on until 4000 rpm. Before the delivery was spread out through 3 and 5k rpm. It feels like all motor and then BOOM power now. 1st gear is almost useless. Its so hard to explain. But just different.

I dont want to purchase a PPK1 for 900 just to restore the power they detuned.

Another sidenote...i got my car back from service 10 days ago, they did another software update bc when they did it months ago it failed to initialize correctly (whatever that means).

Yup thats it basically its lagging alot!!! I was hoping for Dack to chime in on this by now I think he knows of the service bulletin that takes care of this. This happen to me and I complained with my dealer and we both settled on the PPK for $300. This was back in Oct 2011 so the bulletin fix was not out yet.

Many threads on this guys. The SW update is the culprit and the fix is the PPK or aftermarket tune.
