That's definitely a possibility. I could see the e82 continuing for a bit longer than one year. But didn't the X1 take over for the most part where the 1-series were being built?

True, but remember the E82 (and E88) didn't actually arrive on the scene until 2007. So, 2014 is actually right inline with the usual 7 year BMW model cycle.
Previously there had been some suggestion that the F22 might cut that short, and that BMW would move its release closer to that of the product that debuted the platform, much like how it is done with the 3/4 and 5/6. I.e., it would debut next early year, just prior to the F32, similar to the way the F20 debuted just prior to the F30. However, the lack of any F22 mules to speak of had already cast a lot of doubt on this happening. And the release of this new 135is model just makes it even more unlikely.

I don't know where the 1 series and X1 are built to be honest. But, regardless of that, to my knowledge BMW does not plan any gaps in production for the 1 series. So if they did plan to wind it down, it wouldn't be to free up more capacity for the X1, it would be to ramp up on the new model.

The 1er that started production in 2004 has already been replaced. The new hatch is out! The coupe and vert that were introduced in 2008 have another couple of years in them before being replaced by the 2 series.

To all the 1M owners, I have to congratulate you all. Your money was well spent. Enjoy your babe.
To early N54 1/3 Series owners, man, we are also lucky ![]() |

I think that a 135is is great, but the people who really wanted a bad ass 135 already got a 1M and the rest are waiting the 12-24 months until the next body comes out.
And unlike the rest of y'all, I'll go ahead and say all BMWs are bad ass and I don't care which 1er you drive. There is no 1M>135is etc. |
