BMW not that dependable
BMW has slipped further. I must say my E46 had zero issues, 135i a few, and 1M 3 warranty claims to date!
Time to save for an LFA ![]()

It's surprising to see BMW ahead of Scion (Toyota) and Nissan/Infiniti

Does it note which year models are included in the study? I find it hard to believe some of those positions if we're talking the last 5 years or so...

For the record I had more problems with the e46 than any of my current cars during the first 2 years of ownership.

^ agree 100%. The servcie at both the front end ( sales ) and back end ( service ) is very poor from my experience.
I was recently contacted by a "Retention Manager" from BMW Sydney as my CHP is running out. Emailed him 3 times with some basic questions over a week. No response. In the end I had to elevate my questions to someone else to get some answers. Retention Manager Pffffffft |

As always with these reports, it doesn't go into detail the kinds of 'problems' the car has. When you spend big money on a car, you tend to be more antsy over smaller things. For eg: I've read of people here getting warranty work or having issues with 'noises' and wind noise etc. If you buy a $15k Hyundai, you don't go back and whinge about wind noise...

I can't imagine BMW Sydney is short of prospective customers so they will never put in the effort another dealer would. |

^ think you are right on the money there... Problem for me is that I live a short trip through the cross city tunnel away from Sydney BMW.
I emailed their service department last night to enquire how much they were going to rape me for a scheduled "vehicle inspection" - and asked about the cost of an oil change as well. As expected, I never heard back from them today - so thought I would ring my enquiry through. Now I know this is a BAD time to ring the service department (4pm ). But still... this is BMW right ! you know - German quality and and service and all that. Was on the phone, on hold, listening to " I like the way you move" for 9 minutes before hanging up. Those Lexus's are sounding better by the minute ![]() P.S. just joking.... |
