Had both cars alongside each other. Sat in one car, then the other. No rocket science in determining that there was a difference in height.
You're right Joe. Ian is definitely taller than you

May be, may be not. After a while, I forgotten that my head is resting on the door frame whenever I turn. Until I remembered that it might do my neck any good if there's a rollover.

Maybe you guys should give the performance seats a go? I know there is a lower mounting setting for them... Electric seats are great but I don't think I've adjusted my seats more than 2 or 3 times.

I had a good look today and play with the settings, and it really doesn't look like the seat can physically go any lower. I remembered my 318i used to be able to set a lot lower. Yes, the magical one fist length and I can only do that with the lowest setting now. I used to need to lift the seat quite high to get that position on the 318i.

Now, with a helmet on, looks like I will have a couple of inches clearance the most. May be I do need to look into a new seat - or learn to seat less upright.

Thanks everyone for their help.

I don't think the seats can be adjusted. To get lower, adjust the front to tip down/forward, then lower the seat.

Thanks alik01 for sending through the seat pics - so definitely very similar in height. So, I will just put it down to my seating angle.

May be a new seat and roll cage is in order...

Upon closer inspection, my passenger seat was visibly lower (I had never noticed).

I took it to the dealer yesterday and they had a look and 'reprogrammed' the car - lo and behold - it's about 2-3" lower! Seating position is much much better.

TimMc thought it'd be good to post in case any other 1M owners have similar afflictions.

THANKS TimMc!

I could have created a new one, but then I would have had to find a suitable meme to tell myself to search.

Very true . Not sure if Kamal monitors the forum now, or if he would know if that was the case.

Sure, but with x00 number of views it's reasonable to think someone has tried.

I killed my virtualbox prefs when I had to rebuild whilst in Redmond, if I get time in the next week or two I will give it a crack (and hope it's not a wasted effort!)
