Covering, removing, hiding the orange turn signals?
Hey, I just saw some 135i's on here with clear headlights on the sides, where the orange usually is. Looks sick. Don't know much about it but does anyone have suggestions / solutions / tips on how to get the orange away + whether it's legal or not lol. Thank you in advance!

He means Euro spec headlights which cost probably over $1000.00 at least.. actually closer to $1400.00.
Many people either use vinyl, tint or plastic. Do a search there are a million posts/threads about this.

As mentioned, Euro Spec headlights. I've found them for around $1100-1200.
Or get in touch with BavX. It's $700 for their conversion. |

I have the Bimmian corner light cover (painted black)..
![]() Also, here's a link to another member's showoff thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=482085 Personally, I love how the car looks with the Bimmian corner light cover. I paired it up with the CSR eyelid and it looks sickkk.. I've also replaced the orange bulb with a chrome shell bulb (still gives off orange light when blinking) to take away the last bit of orange from the headlights..

All cars in the USA are required by code to have amber reflectors visible from the sides and the front of the car. The code doers not state that these reflectors have to be integrated into the headlamps. Many cars have amber reflectors integrated into the bumper or fenders.

But there is no orange in the headlight. The headlight MUST light up orange, and if there's no orange in the headlight when it's off (like on that 3 series), there must still be something orange and reflective on each side of the car anyway. Pretty random, if you ask me, but that's why there's that reflector on all the newer 3 series. Though, I know a few people who have just gone with pure white turn signals and no amber reflectors, and they haven't really gotten hassled for it. But it might just be one more thing to ticket you for during an unrelated stop.

There is a lot of confusion on this. There are two different amber requirements. One is for the turn signal lamps. These must also be amber in color. On the 1-series - the amber turn signal requirement is obtained with the color of the bulb when blinking, as the lens cover is clear. The bulb itself is silver, but when blinking it flashes amber.
The other requirement is for the front reflector. This is what gives the amber look to the 1-Series North American headlamp assembly - it is the reflector, not the turn signal. It is required by law for any vehicle to have amber reflectors covering the front and visible from the sides, and to have red reflectors in the rear, also visible from the side. In the USA, both turn signals and front reflectors must be amber to meet NHTSA code. In Canada, it is allowed under a DOT special exemption to have white reflectors on the front, but the standard models from all manufacturers is amber front reflectors - the same as the USA. Covering up the amber reflector, or replacing the headlamp assembly with a Euro Spec version theoretically makes the car illegal in the USA, although we do not hear of many instances where peoples cars are impounded because of this issue.
