if you could get the airbags to code to a US spec car, that would be the ultimate seat.

the bottom line is you're deleting an airbag. this makes racing shells a no-go for me. the recaro version of the bmw performance seats can be bought with airbags... that's a viable option, but unless you're also installing a full cage, harnesses etc., a true racing shell is a significant downgrade in safety. the pole position is also a bit flexy for my taste, but that's another discussion.

no seat air bag isnt a deal breaker for me. Hell, people survived crashes all the time before, you know, seat air bags were invented. lol

to each their own. our cars' safety features are BARBARIC and UNSAFE! comapared to what will be available in 80 years from now in cars. For your safety, stop driving the 1er now till then. /sarcasm. haha

true, but trade "seat airbag" for "side airbag" in the above. airbags in seats may be a relatively new thing, but cars have had side airbags for quite some time. with a racing shell, this car is without primary side airbags (save for the upper curtains). take it one step further and assume i want a racing shell for function, not fashion, meaning i'm looking for something to hold me in place while driving at or near the limit (for CYA purposes, lets say on a racetrack)... i especially don't want to be without my side airbag in that case.

...and that's unfortunately why i have oem seats.

haha i wish i could take out a meaningful amount of weight, but weight reduction is lost on the e82. it's a little piggy "gnome matter what" (though that doesn't seem to stop people from trying, god bless 'em)

Here the car Comar already posted:

Recaro Pole Position
Recaro FIA Seat Shell Adapters
(turned on the drivers side, to get the most vertical position of the seat as possible)
Recaro FIA rails to move the seat back and forth
(requirement for the german TÜV)
Macht Schnell Liteweight Floormounts

So the seats are as low as possible and as vertical as possible. Perfect for sporty driving!

Seats look great. I have sparcos laying around but I don't feel like doing all the extra work to set them up.

So I pulled the trigger for seats. Already got floor mount and everything but OC3 module. Does anyone running the aftermarket seat without the OC3 module? Thanks

I just bought a set of Sparcos, 6pts, and a roll cage for the track, so I'd love to know this as well!
