For those selling their 1M - What's next?

Honestly, I'm surprised at the number of 1Addict members selling out their slightly used/barely broken in 1M coupes. Many of the guys selling were the "diehard" enthusiasts I remember learning so much about this great car during the last 12 months. Is it to recoup your investment and walk with some extra change or is there something else out there you are looking forward to getting into? I couldn't be happier with this car and have no thoughts on ever selling it.

The 1M is great and a real enthusiasts car I would never even think of selling if it wasn't for a newborn and not enough time to enjoy my 1M.

Well congrats on the newborn!! Responsibility first! My two little ones love riding in the race car that makes them feel really "heavy" at times.

I was just about to ask the same question. There was like 3 forsale when i bought mine in May 2012, the 2 others were priced over $70k. Now there is like 5-10 forsale thus driving the price down. The 1M is a keeper, but there will be those out there that have to have the latest thing--i'm guilty of buying the new challenger in 2008 and the new camaro in 2010, had to be the first on the block. drove each one for 3 months and sold for same price if not more before the market got saturated. I would have bought the 1m new last year but at the time I was crossing off owning the Aston Martin Vantage.

Honestly I'm toying with the idea of selling the M, but i can't decide what i want. Nothing under $150k really excites me besides the Exige and i alrdy bought that.

I was considering selling my s2k + 1M and buying a v10 R8 b.c i found a good deal but i drove both the v8 & v10 r8 and honestly didn't love it. it was just a very fast comfy car to me.

Ill probably sell it within 1-2 years when the price is right, when I'm more liquid and i believe 1M prices will go back up, and either sell all the cars (exige + 1M + S2k) and pick up a whole new garage. The garage I'm planning in 1-2 years is Ariel Atom + LP560 + some nice DD. Maybe keep the Exige since i love it so much.

No question the 1 M value will go up over time. That has been case, 2007-08 Z4 M is a great example. Dealers couldn't get them off the lot and now 4 years later they are going for full value. I expect the same with the 1 M.

Yeah thats exactly what I'm thinking. The limited quantity helps but isn't the only factor.

Take the s2000 for example. Since 2009 they have slowly appreciated. Even tho they sold more than 60,000 of them.
Dealers were getting rid of S2000 CRs for $29-$31k. They sell for used with 20-40k miles for around $29-$32k still. lol

1M used values are good at the moment so it is tempting to move on whilst possible. I expect the arrival of the M135i, M235i and M2 will change that.

I'd be surprised. Suspect 1M values will drop quite a bit when M2 hits the market.

Are the high 20s to low 30s full value?

Why not just join an exotic car club? Unless the goal is to turn a profit a la Wayne Carini. I dunno, I'm just a BMW enthusiast, so it doesn't make sense for me to sell my !M.

For me, they just want to take advantage of the market and make some cash. Shame on them especially when they use the excuse like "things changed yada yada I need to make some extra cash after the whole time i enjoy the car cause I can also I am car enthusiasts but just can't justify say no to few $ hahaha
