135i oem diffuser - painted?

I need a new diffuser for my 135i, with m package

Does anyone know if they come bare, and have to be painted? Or are they precoated?

It almost looks like some type of rubberized coating.

I got hit in the rear, and the diffuser is scratched up. They want to fix and repaint it, but if it comes prefinished, I'll just order a new one. They're under 100 bucks from the dealer.

hmm what color is yours? mine on my 08 is like a dull grey plastic. i just looked it up and according to ETK this does not come primed nor painted. Which makes sense to me with the color of mine. i personally am going to paint mine black but from what i can tell it wasnt meant to be painted.

Mine is the same, but that dull grey plastic is actually a coating. It's black plastic underneath.

That's what I'm trying to figure out - does it come in the grey, or is it sprayed grey.

Ya, I've had to get one before when someone destroyed my rear bumper and diffuser and am about 99.9% sure it just comes the way it comes. It's the same on any 135 and should not require any painting or anything.

It does. I purchased one, cut out the middle section, painted it gloss black and installed mesh behind the cutout. Gives the car a different look. They are not that expensive. I recall it was approximately $65 shipped.

Is that matte black or gloss back on your 135i emblem?

I want to do this as my winter project.

Garage List
Not a fan of the cutout because you see the muffler, but do agree painting looks better

I've been contemplating painting the muffler black for that very reason.

The stock diffuser does come in the dull grey, which I think looks awful. Had this one painted gloss black and I think looks excellent, esp on the Crimson.

FWIW I got a quote for $153 to paint the diffuser Jet Black off of the car. I'm going to pull the trigger shortly. The dull grey looks so cheap.
