HPFP Recall?

Hi All,

Hopefully someone can help.

As we all know the HPFP for the N54 is pretty much useless. Has BMW realised this yet in Australia and put it on the recall/extended warranty list?

I'm pretty sure it's on a case by case basis.
I don't believe there's a formal recall in Aus but many have had them replaced outside of warranty.
Injectors are usually the first that get replaced.

Thanks guys. They were very willing with the injectors a few months ago also. No hesitation at all with that one.

I had Southern BM here in Melbourne handle all this for me, they arranged everything with BMW and kept them honest. Absolutely fantastic service from Southern BM, didn't charge me a cent for it.

I'm not sure if Advan or others do something similar in Sydney but I found going this route, there was no stress having to push BMW or get told a story by some service manager.

I have an 08 build E88 that I purchased new in mid 09. I had my HPFP replaced under warranty maybe after 1-2 years due to the car going into limp mode repetitively.

I had 5 injectors replaced under recall last week.

I remember reading that the US had a recall on the HPFP but we have to wait for it to fail before we get it replaced...

Mine is original - no bigie. It will go when it goes. If it does either BMW replace it for free, or worst case scenario I will buy one (what... $400.- from the US??) and fit myself. It's not a very difficult job...

The HPFP hasn't completely failed yet however the long cranks and morning splutter is enough for me to prevent an engine explosion at a track day.

Spoke with dealership and BMW Australia today and got the usual, "sorry sir what are you talking about?" Unless i receive a letter then i am just unlucky.

Anyways, not that expensive around $320 shipped to Aus, which isn't outrageous.

Now the clutch is on the list also

Ah the morning splutter - my 2010 135i has just started doing that in the last fortnight. So does that mean a HPFP failure is imminent ? Who can help in Sydney - Advan or Stu ?

It may or may not to be honest. I had a few issues at the track on top of the morning issues which is a fairly good indicator that its gone. In your case you would still be within warranty so best thing to do is call your local BMW service department and they will tell you to book it in to do a wanky test. If it is gone they will replace it under warranty. Unfortunately, i was out of warranty being a 2008 model.

If they don't decide to come to the party then yes the best guys in Sydney to supply and fit would be Stu and Peter. This is who is helping me out.
