1M Cobb Tune - BMW 1 Series Coupe Forum / 1 Series Convertible Forum (1M / tii / 135i / 128i / Coupe / Cabrio / Hatchback) (BMW E82 E88 128i 130i 135i)

Anyone here fitted the Cobb tune to their 1M..??

Specifically after replies to 1M fitment only and type of map/tune downloaded with boltons if any..

Before and after dyno results..( not interested in butt dyno results..

)

It was only a matter of time

Cobb only claims 4% increase in power, rather get that via hardware.

Why not try before you buy?? If it is good I'd be keen.

Took Alpines " Salt " for a drive, and realized how much I missed my verts JB Ooomphhh down low..

Not interested in a piggy back tune.. Rather Cobb or similar.

Just want some real life results rather than biased vendor BS..

There's a thread on the 1M engine subforum that I'll dig up from a guy who went from piggyback to COBB (beta tunes) to evolve tune. It's rare that one person tries multiple tunes, so a true independent comparo is hard to find.

Refreshingly, it wasn't a shameless vendor plug but a pretty balanced review I thought.

I'll post a link here once I find it.

Have read that thread previously, but he never actually installed the Cobb on the 1M, only on his 335i..

I am gonna get something for Pepper, not sure what, probably ESS, it works, never had an issue, it is software downloadable and supported by SoutherBM (yes in Melbourne however).

I have the luxury of back to back driving of tune and no tune, I can tell you Salt is a screamer compared to Pepper (the Akra helps in this area as it does in the sound area

Pepper is a Church Mouse in comparison

I don't know much about the different options (Cobb, ESS, EvoleR), so can't add value to this discussion just yet. I may plug in my Procede just to see what it's like, but I'd prefer something that I can easily add/remove.

No real life data, as the only 2 Cobb's Pete has sold to a 1M's, have been DIY and no figures available..

Pointless looking at Cobb data on non 1M installs.

I know of a 1M running a Cobb in Sydney, but is OS at the moment, and have spoken to him about coming in for a uninstall then Dyno, then re install.... He hasn't given any indication if he is keen yet.

As Ian stated, if we can get a min 10% gain, we would be keen.

My car is about 265kw ATW with some boltons, so would hope for at least another 25KW..

Just guessing but to get 290rwkw on the advan dyno from a n54 tune and midpipe only is impossible without meth or e85.

I have no idea what flash tunes that work well with the 1m have e85 maps. Mixing e85 with 98 octane is nearly as good as meth.

Sorry not 1m specific but i would look at flash tunes and e85 map support.

I know mate.. Just making a guesstimate of a 10% Cobb gain..

My figures are from the Advan dyno, and I have had several consistent dyno's there..

Nah only locked whilst ON the car if you uninstall it can be used on another car! But i doubt your gonna get the gains your looking for. The 1m has already been tuned pretty well and I would be very very surprised if you saw more than 5 -10 atw
