Thats the only way to determine what these tunes are capable of producing over the 1M factory tunes..

What we need is a some 1M's who are prepared to flash back to stock and dyno before and after..

It amazes me how with all these forum posts from the US and Oz, that we still cant find one independent 1M, that has recorded actual real world figures..

I will try and convince Raj to bring his Cobb tuned 1M on the day..

Never dynoed the ESS. It is easy to flash back to stock maps via handheld. Why dyno if I could feel the difference apart from just making a point. You can't compare dynos anyway unless it is done on the same car and on the same day and provided the weather doesn't change much during the course of the day.

100% correct
We all need a base line before and after on paper just so we know the power difference that your backside feels is real, and then by how much.
You may not care, but there are many out there that will Annalise the results and make decisions regarding there purchase based on our findings.
I feel it is important to be as accurate as possible, so when we do this sort of testing every endever is made to keep the environment the same.
This is not about piggy back / flash tuning bashing, its about information.

Well most ppl who have just spent $1k on a tune are going to have the anecdotal feeling that it is better. Dyno before and after in the same conditions is the only measure.

I am just skeptical about the 1M tunes available... the 1M basically come pre-tuned from factory. I'd like to see some numbers (not from vendors).

Also, with the ESS, can you switch between maps & stock easily? Why are you moving to EvolveR tune?

I agree the only way to find out is testing, but there's not much incentives for an individual owner to pay for a dyno run if you can feel the difference. Hence, just answering the question why I haven't dynoed the ESS. Yes, I would have love to, but travelling 1.5hrs each way to dyno the ESS is a bit too much for me.

Most 1M stage 1 tune doesn't go beyond the 14.5 psi from the table, but it brings in the peak sooner in earlier gears, and also extend the pressure to higher rpms.

ESS you can switch between the tuned map and stock map through the handheld easily, but I don't think it is like 3-4 mins like the cobb. The cobb have got the largest selection of maps, but they tend to be beta maps. I believe the standard 1M map is similar to the ESS, but there are race maps available IIRC.

I am switching because I will be FBOed, and ESS has stopped developing the 1M map. So, my choice is to either go with Giac or EvolveR as they remained the only flashes that officially support these higher tuned maps.

The only reason really between Giac and EvolveR was convenience of flashing it yourself and the Giac's official distributor is at least 2 hours away from me either at Toowoomba or the Gold Coast. Beric's car using Evolve also giving me a little bit more trust on how good the tune might be. I have to say Giac has been very helpful when I was asking question. If I live in the US where there are many support centres and able to take my car to be custom tuned, I probably would have gone the other way.

Edit: On top of the butt dyno, more objective measure like how much throttle in what corner I start to feel the car loses traction, determine that it is better than stock .

Joe, it doesn't surprise me in the least. That's why I made a comprehensive thread about my 135 build with dyno sheets at every stage. 99% of people never dyno their mods and just go by seat of the pants analysis.

You'd be hard pressed to find 3 other people in the world who have done the same.

I have every intention to do the same, but parenthood and living regional makes it a much bigger task than just rock up to Advan and have a dyno done.

I don't think many of us care if others put out more or less... I certainly don't mind that yours put down more than mine, just curious as to why? That's what we are all after. I think that this is a great idea by Advan
