RB Turbo & BMW OEM turbo install hardware

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I'm supporting Rob Beck with the distribution of RB turbochargers and associated RB Turbo hardware within Australia.

I can supply a brand new set of RB turbochargers and a complete BMW OEM turbo install kit to you or directly to your workshop if preferred.

The turbos are available for $4,349 and the install kit will cost $319 with No GST to pay.

FYI,

The first two pics are a comparison of a new'ish OEM TD03 turbocharger and a mint condition TD04 "hybrid" from RB Turbo with a TD04-15T compressor wheel and TD04L exhaust wheel.

N.B. whist there is no core charge associated with the purchase of the RBs, you will be required to send me your old OEM turbos once your mechanic has installed the RBs. This process keeps your car on the road whilst awaiting the arrival of your turbos and negates the hassles associated with the shipment of your cores to and from Rob in the US.

Rob has recently purchased a state-of-the-art VSR (Vibration Sorting Rig) to allow precision balancing of the CHRA/cartridge. Whilst RB's are known for their durability the new VSR balancing procedure will further increase the reliability of RB's within high boost applications.

I have also attached pic of a balancing report illustrating the end result of a VSR balanced cartridge on 3 consecutive runs from 20K to 170K rpm and the VSR itself.

Cheers,

Justin.

P.S. all amounts are in AUD with no GST component to pay.

You would have to assume he is, or is under review by the sponsors, otherwise this thread would have been shut down by now...

Haha, yes Jason has happily taken my money for "Silver Level" sponsorship.

If you review the same thread on the 3 Series forum you will see the "BimmerPost Supporting Vendor" tag in my Avatar. For some reason the vendor tag is not displayed on the 1Addicts forum.

Cheers,

Justin.

Hey guys,

for anyone that may have been following the extraordinary horsepower developments of TFT intake/turbo inlet kit in combination with RB's and is now considering upgrading their OEM turbos, I have set of VSR precision balanced RB turbochargers in stock and they are looking for a better home than a display cabinet, haha.

Pricing for the RB's and OEM install kit is per the first post above.

FYI,

in lieu of the buzz associated with the TFT kit Peter@Advan has agreed to a reduced installation cost of $1,500 inc.GST on the RB turbochargers. This is a fixed labour cost with a $500 discount over Advan's normal N54 turbo R&R price, but it does NOT include consumables such as engine oil/filter and OEM coolant replacement.

Cheers,

Justin.

Hi Justin

Is this for N54 only or N55?

Thanks.

RB doesn't make anything for the N55 yet.

RBs

Well done to Justin for putting together such a good offer. Direct supply without paying for cores or waiting for RBs once you remove your OEM turbos make it very attractive.

Kudos also goes to Advan for their discounted installation pricing.

Great product and great support for the N54 community.

Hey mate,

as nugget mentioned these upgraded Rob Beck turbochargers are for the twin turbo N54 engine.

Yeah, Rob hasn't completed his Stage 2 N55 journal bearing offering as yet, but Pure Turbos have just released their Stage 2 and holy smokes...

Final tuning results are not in as yet, but let's just say the horsepower disparity between the N55 and more potent N54 vehicles just got a whole lot smaller to say the least. What's more the Pure Turbos Stage 2 offering is far more cost effective than the Vargas Stage 2 (Garrett DBB cartridge) turbo.

I have a Stage 2 N55 turbocharger from Pure Turbos on the way for a Sydney customer, I'll be starting a new thread soon to outline what's on offer for all you N55 guys that wish to kick some N54 butt, haha.

Cheers,

JD.

Hey gents,

I recently received a PM regarding the modification of the OEM compressor discharge pipe I alluded to in one of my TFT intake/turbo inlet threads.

I now pretty much insist that any RB's I sell should be accompanied by a modified pipe, but prior to my taking on the distribution of RB turbochargers in Australia on behalf of Rob Beck I suspect there were a few sets imported and kicking around that are still running on the restrictive OEM pipe.

FYI,

the modification of the discharge pipe has seen a dyno proven gain of 15-20rwkW on an otherwise maxed out (say 20psi@6,000rpm) RB car on stock "pancaked" turbo inlets. The rear pipe tract that connects to the discharge outlet of the rear turbo is heavily pinched from the factory to allow for collision crush clearance. However the pinch is excessive and whilst the modified pipe still retains some relief to allow for steering assembly clearance, it's still a huge improvement with far far better flow characteristics. Please note the front turbo tract remains unchanged, the pics show the rear tract before and after the mod.

Cheers,

JD.

Hey guys,

the modified compressor discharge pipe (aka hot side charge pipe) can be supplied for $229 on a core exchange basis with a flat shipping rate of $20 to anywhere in Aus.

So far all of the purchasers have paid for the modified pipe in conjunction with RB's they have bought from me, so I haven't been too concerned about a refundable core charge. But as these OEM pipes are worth quite a bit of money to replace it's something I might need to consider moving forward.

Thanks,

Justin

Hey Edwin, I have an unmodified pipe on its way back to me from WA and have just ordered a new OEM pipe from BMW so I can better manage the "core" exchange program.

I think you are still on stock turbos, yeah?

I'm keen to see what rwkW gains there would be when the modified pipe is used on an aggressively tuned FBO stock turbo car.

I've had a few enquiries over the last couple of days but no one has committed to the mod just yet, so I can probably turn the upgrade on the pipe around pretty quick once received. When would you be looking to do the swap?

Thanks,

Justin.

Yeah still on stock turbo's. I'd also be interested to see if there was anything to gain. I'll definitely gain some sleep not having to look at that annoying pipe everytime I'm working on the car. I have to call Pete in the next few weeks for a valve clean so I think I'll just have him do it then.

Is there a diagram of where this pipe is located on the engine? Just so I can estimate how painful a DIY install may be??

Surely you know where your turbos are, jack the car up take the under tray off and you'll see it.

That makes 2 of us Edwin. That crimped pipe makes no sense whatsoever.

I remember when Pete had done this mod a few years ago,and had mentioned whilst the turbos are off you might as well do this mod but the gains were unknown.

It shall be interesting to see what the gains are on Ed's car if he does a before and after dyno run?? (hint hint! - I will submit $5 towards a edwin dyno run fund)

Open your bonnet, and on the left between your firewall and coolant reservoir you will see the steering column and these pipes (that's providing you have a N54!!)
