what brand tires for 135i - BMW 1 Series Coupe Forum / 1 Series Convertible Forum (1M / tii / 135i / 128i / Coupe / Cabrio / Hatchback) (BMW E82 E88 128i 130i 135i)

thinking of pulling the trigger on the pre-owned 135i.
The tires are still good but im preparing for a reserve.
What brand/tires do you guys recommend ?
I'm looking @ tirerack at the hankook ventus V12:

I plan to use the stock rims, therefore the tires would be the same as the stock.

Are these hankook good enough ?

I dont plan taking this car past 200 km/h. But do plan to take it on corners moderate to fast.

The Hankooks are good for a lower-cost option, and can be driven all year if its not snowing. Mich Pilot Super Sports are probably the best all around tire, and theyre reasonably priced as well. Other options that seem to be popular: Yokohama s-drives and Dunlop star specs. Check out the wheels+tire section for fitment, memers here run all types of setups from stock to 275 in the back to 255 square.

Other than the price the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the best at about everything. I just bought a set a few weeks ago and have about 3K miles on them they are fantastic and can even floor it in the rain for the most part. But Most of the tires are better than the junk RFT's.

Travelling flinstones bare feet running style=better than the OE runflats..seriously some of the harshest tires ive ever experienced. BMW should be embarassed that they put those on any car.

IF one uses a non-run flat tires, what are the implications here in terms of spare tire when one gets a flat tire ?

I dont´ know if i did right, Yesterday i bought Federal 595 RSR for my rear tires 245/35/18, they are semisleak. I am keeping the front OEM tires runflat bridgestone potenza. So i have runflat in the front and regular semisleak at the rear tires. I didn´t change the front ones because they still have 70% of life. ¿opinions?

I had a set of the hankooks and did not like them. Did not last long and quite slippery in the wet. Currently on MPSS and absolutely love them, best tires I've had so far.

I have the hancooks and had no problems in the rain, and it was pouring the other day here.

One of my friends was running the Hancooks on his modified 135i and he was getting consistent 12.2 at the drag races with them. He had no grip problems with them.

You really cant go wrong with either the Hancooks for the PSS's. It all depends on your budget, I didnt think the extra $3-400 for the PSS's was worth it since I drive a lot of highway miles. I took my car to the local dealer to install the tires. I also bought the spare tire kit from Bavauto, its a fantastic ready to go kit.

S drives are good tires, you can do much worse than that. I cant impress upon you enough how vast an improvement any of the aformentioned tires will be over the OE rfts.

S-drives are awesome. They run a bit wider than V12's though.

Michelin PSS are a huge upgrade over stock. I had no problems hooking in first gear with them, going to go with a 275 when it's time to be replaced though because they don't hook on the Cobb stage 2+ aggressive.

when buying tires for the 135i in tire rack, it ask whether the car was built before 9/10 or built on or after 9/10.
What is the relevance of this ? I would just be interested in buying 215/40/18 and 245/35/18 (basically the original tire size configuration).
