N55 downpipe stinks
What is everyone doing about the fact that there are no secondary cats on our N55s? I was thinking about getting an N54 midpipe to make my car a little less offensive in the olfactory department since installing my catless downpipe.

Try switching fuel brands and/or octane. Some fuel have more sulfur than others and can produce that rotten egg smell from the tail pipe. Usually after the car has some miles 20K to 30K, this smell also goes away. |

If you just installed it give it a couple weeks for the pipes to season and burn off all the crud inside. Took about a week on my car and the smell is 90 percent less now.

With no filtering, there's no way to get rid of the unburnt hydrocarbon smells (which smells entirely different than the bad cat sulfur smell). Luckily, I like the smell of hydrocarbons; smells like raw, nasty, badass speed.

It just seems to detract from the refined qualities of the car. Also there's no fooling an inspection station with how powerful the smell is. I never realized just how much cats effect the odor.
