I think the problem is how you come across sometimes. but yes I actually attempted to hire a pro once when it was offered but my luck he was a no show. my only frame of reference to do better is to compare my times to a local pro that took my car around the same track while I got data from his lap. I then compare my lap data with his and I can clearly can see where he is faster. of course why he is faster is because he has thousands of laps experience on this track. however despite all that, he was only 1.2 sec faster than me. I definitely can live with that! I also had a nice spin around one of those corners once and that has spooked me a little. after all, don't want to wreck my ride plus this track is notorious for no run offs. I see cars getting wrecked there every time I go there. last weekend a car rolled over.

now to address a few things you brought up, yes it appears that I am coasting through some turns but despite that my times are still pretty fast but I failed to beat my best time by .5 sec where I was 1.2 sec slower than the pro driving my car. so if you take that into consideration I was still fast but definitely not as fast as I wanted to be or I know I can be. plus I already explained in my OP my car was misfiring so performance was down and in some hard braking zones my car felt a bit unstable plus pedal feel with my pagid pads felt less than ideal. so like you said sometimes over braked. now as far as not hearing tire squeal, you can clearly hear tire squeal in one video more than the other and the reason for that is because I used two audio sources for one video where I was picking up cabin sound and that recorded tire squeals. trust me my front tires are melted. I don't think they would be like that if I was like a granny riding them. next year on top of my list is getting a pro instructor.

I think you keep up because you drive a fast car.

If your front tires are getting eaten up it is probably because your car is pushing. Does it feel that way? It looks like it in the videos. And if you're running staggered tire sizes my guess is that you definitely have a push. One way to deal with a tight car is to trail the brakes more. Try this next time. Carry more brake energy into the turn and turn in with more brake on. Not so much that you overwhelm the front tires from turning and braking, but enough to keep the weight on the nose. If you get ABS when you turn in, you need less braking as you turn. Smooth quality brake release is important. Imagine coming off the brake in a way that a passenger would not be able to identify when exactly you're off the brake. Footwork has to be good here. If you pop off the brake you could spin or you could throw your car into a big push depending. Turn in should be smooth too. And if you don't carry enough speed into the corner, it won't work you will just be hanging onto the brake and over-slowing for no reason. To get it to rotate you gotta carry speed and brake energy into the turn in to overwhelm the rear tires just enough while sticking the front tires right into the ground.

Be prepared for the car to rotate on you, like you're going to spin! You should anticipate it and catch it. Now you should be pointed exactly where you want to go. Run over the apex, open your hands and roll into throttle.

The trick to a tight car is you have to get the car rotated in the beginning of the turn because it will push on turn in and on power and you'll never be able to get back to throttle where you want to. You'll never get the initial yaw you need to get through the turn quickly and with speed. The sooner you point the car, the sooner you're pointed where you want to go, the sooner you can go to full power. Just open your hands and let the car float to the track out because your car has a lot of power and if you pinch it you'll end up like Yandy.

Final note: pick a corner with a lot of run off inside and out to practice this.

I don't really mean well. I consciously say things without regard for your or anyone else's feelings. It's a forum. It's whatever. But you won't see me say anything seriously offensive I'm not malicious by nature. Just a roughness to my tone.

Mic'ing the exhaust is totally vain but it does help recognize when you get on throttle i'll give you that.

it's all good! I welcome constructive criticism. I know there's room for improvement.

You guys would rather talk about what watch you wear when you drive or what should your personalized license plate say while you look at yourself in the reflections of windows as you drive down the strip than anything that will actually better yourself. Oh! I got the mod bug again. Lets go drop some parts in my car and then try them out at the track so i feel like i got my money's worth. Also so i can put it in my signature on the forum, the guys love that. BMWs have always been the choice ride of yuppies and this forum continues that tradition. They should change this subforum to be called Boy Racers and Their Expensive Toys. Posers and back markers welcome.

okaaay, where you waiting for a thanks or some kind of affirmation? apparently someone needs his coffee this morning! like I said I welcome constructive criticism but beyond that you're just asking for a stupid argument. thought this was already settled but apparently not. if you don't have anything more positive to contribute to this conversation then please move on while we're still in relative good terms.

Actually some good advice but as I heard as a child "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" I actually prefer a car that pushes on track (read safer) as mentioned by purple, just have to trail brake a bit on turn in or maybe even turn in a bit earlier. It's a hobby for most not a profession, my goal is fun and yes lap times are part of that, but lighten up Francis :

I agree with the good advise but the rest of the judgmental commentary i can do without. car definitely started pushing again this year going back to the staggered setup and dialing in more camber didn't help much.

oh wow how long did you spend on the internets to find this video? I feel pity for those poor bastards that have to put up with you on a daily basis. I am sure if I cared to listen and learn what happened when you were a kid I would understand but honestly I couldn't give a rats ass. so I suggest you stop making a fool of yourself and crawl back into the hole you came from buddy.

Being an outsider and watching this conversation/argument unfold, I can clearly see both sides and where you both are coming from but I just have to say that that video was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I couldn't stop laughing, thanks!

Pixelblue it was nice to meet you at the Glen. I have a few ideas and some answers now.

As for PCA RTR I may attend that event as well. I consider RTR my preffered PCA group to run with.

In repsonse to qouted setions:
1) Make sure you use the RTR tech form and get a reciept from the shop doing the inspection. If they see the tech from completed by a shop that is not one of their approved shops( Philadelphia Area) they will ask for the reciept.

2) Have you're home club Cheif Instructor send their registrar an email. Even if not, you'll run in the novice group for one session and then they should bump you up to blue or white run group.
