Rear Fog Light?

Just gave up my end of lease 2010 335i and picked up my 2013 128i. The former car had a little know feature - a rear fog light, that could be activated by a modification of a "dummy" button under the front fog light button on the light switch component. Does anyone know if this is also the case with the 1 series?

Yes, all new bmw's have this feature. You can either modify the headlight switch (ie the "lego mod") or you can buy the euro headlight switch which has the rear fog light switch built in.

Thanks for the info. I assume the mod is as easy in the 128 as in the 335.

Seems to me someone on this board said the newest switches have all the parts internally - that you don't need to do a Lego mod anymore. Do a search to find out.

I installed the Euro version and it gave me an error.

Did you install the correct one>? There are MANY headlight switches.

You need to know IF your car has: rain sensor, AHL and xenon. There are EIGHT different headlight switches for your car!

I bought it from another member and after installation the error light pop ups, I had AHL & xenon and rain sensor which is the correct P/N # to pick?

For which BMW? What are you driving now? Do you have fog lights? Just use RealOEM and look at what you need. ? But I can look it up too.

See Rikx1M 's great writeup on moding your existing headlight switch...

Cheap alternative to fog lamp lego mod or buying a euro switch
