Question on this unit for some of us that have aftermarket or want to get aftermarket stereos in the future. Will not connecting directly to the oem radio mess up the controls for the JB4?

I know we do connect to the CAN system to direct signals to the new head unit. I wonder if this will be ok. I plan on swapping and this will decide if I go JB4 or Cobb.

Does this work with all versions of the ECU software? I know BMW has released software updates in the past and i'm not sure which version i'm on now but i have an older jb3 that i had to take off so they could update my software and i've never put it back on.

Yes works with all software. The JB3 is discontinued which is why its lost its compatibility with newer software as development stopped.
