SS Brake Lines?

I'm planning on attempting on doing a full brake overhaul over the Christmas break from full fluid flush with Castrol SRF, putting on performance brakes kit including calipers and rotors and Cool Carbons.

Is it a good idea to get some SS brake lines whilst I'm at it?

I know that it's supposed to have improved pedal feel etc but I guess I'm worried about catastrophic failure of the lines which some people have spoken about.

Does anyone here run SS lines and/or have any feedback regarding performance and/or failure?

Thanks

Hey buddy fwiw I'd recommend getting the Nashin kit from Pete. Price wise very competitive and performance wise first rate. Oh and they come with ss lines

Thanks Pav but unfortunately I've already bought my kit and it's been sitting in the garage for the past 2-3 months waiting for me to get some low dust/higher performance pads than OEM.

I'm a sucker for the colour

I have some Goodridge brake lines for my 1M. Highly recommend getting some. Very good quality, same lines Brembo use in their BBKs.

When you get brake lines, make sure you get 6 piece ones and not 4 piece ones as the rear end has 4 pieces of hose and most kits only replace the outer lines and not the inner ones.

Stoptechs here. Can't comment on pedal feel as I swapped over to castrol srf at the same time. Can say that combo led to a stiffer pedal with more progressive feel. Haven't had any issues so far.

You can always find horror stories about any mod if you look hard enough. If you're serious about improving track braking performance then SS would be mandatory IMHO.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Sounds like it's an overwhelming yes so I guess I'll order some now and hopefully the install goes ok haha.

Probably leaning towards the Goodridge ones. I like how they have a lifetime warranty. Not sure if the others do.

Hahaha I know right.

I'm trying to order some Goodridge ones now. At least I've already ordered the pads so once everything arrives I'll be 100% ready for the attempted install job...

Hopefully I don't fk everything up otherwise I'm going to have to tilt tray my car to someone who actually knows what they're doing

I got HEL braided lines from UK, made with ADR certification. Half the price than buying local. Pedal feel is excellent and stable on road and track.

Are all SS brake lines covered with an outer layer of PVC/similar material to keep the dirt out?

They should be. And you can choose different colours for the PVC.

Has anyone replaced their hydraulic clutch line(s) with SS lines?

A buddy of mine with a e36 M3 replaced his and was blown away with the increased clutch feel. He said it was a better improvement than when he did the CDV delete on his car.

Any thoughts?
