Wiper Refill DIY - Save yourself money.

Tired of paying $20+++ each for new beam blades? No thanks. Decided to replace both for the cost of a Happy Meal, and all it took was five minutes of taking things apart.

Used a small flathead to pop off each of the end clips, slid out the old rubber, sprayed a little car-soap on the new rubber, slid it in, trimmed the end, put it all back together. I think I ended up cutting off ~4" and it might've taken me a whole five minutes to do both blades.

$6.50 for the pair of replacements. Gonna order a box of them next time.

Link to replacement rubbers. Pic below.

Wiper blades are available from Rock Auto starting at $1.95 USD (for Trico 2015B). Many others available for under $10.

How good are the wipers with the aftermarket refills? Do they wipe well/quiet?

Hmm, will have to look into this. Honda wipers all allow refill replacement, will have to see if I can find one that fits. The OE Honda refills are very high quality.

Curious, how did you manage to get end cap off without damaging it?

Just noticed you are doing this with aftermarket Bosch blades.

Got the cap off my OE blade, this does not work with the OE blades. The airfoil on the top of the blade is the same rubber as the wiper portion.

I actually hadn't even noticed that mine were aftermarket, they came with it used. The OEM ones should be very similar though, it just depends on how willing you are to disassemble all of the things.

I managed to do the Bosch ones even easier just last week by gently prying the center clip out and completely disassembling them. Reassembly took all of 20 seconds, and at $3/blade my cars all have new rubber.

OEM E82 wipers are made by Valeo. You can order aftermarket refills from the UK on ebay

FPC Euro has Bosch and Valeo replacements and they'll replace them for as long as you own the car. Buy one set and trade them in as often as you want.
