I found this bulb and installation instruction PDF from ECS Tuning to be invaluable. It is for BMW 1-series E82 without the 'premium bulb' pack.

I emailed Mars, they said Sorry you have stock Xenon headlights, we cannot offer you anything. The email was actually that blunt as-well.

Yes, I should have stated that these replace halogen headlights. Sorry I didn't understand that from your post. English is not the first language for the guys at Mars Performance, so one has to take that into account.

i believe it's because the xenon system is wired differently then the halogen headlights.

I was pleasantly surprised by this 10-piece LED (Canbus error-free) set of interior bulbs out of Hong Kong from euroex-auto eBay store with FREE postage to Australia and all up AUD34.99.

I installed them in a couple of hours. I found the dome lights hardest to install, but only because I took my time as I didn't want to break the plastic putting in the six (6) dome lights (3 each front and back). All went well. The only thing is that the luggage (trunk) light is a 42mm festoon, but they supply a 36.5mm festoon and you have to bend the contacts. The glovebox is a 39mm festoon, but they supply a 36.5mm festoon.

I have vanity mirror lights, and the kit does not cater for these. But I already had some 36.5mm festoons and in they went. The attached photos were taken in daylight.

ED: the eyes are too bright, brighter than low beams... they should blend perfectly.]

ED: OHHH they're full headlights as an upgrade to base model halogens!!, not just AE conversions, no wonder i don't like them... i wish valeo wasn't so expensive so there were more of them and less of these.

I assume you are looking at the night shots. To make the judgement you are making you would need to be quite a few car lengths away from the lights ... much further than the photos were taken to say the AEs are brighter than the projectors. Think about it ... it just isn't possible amigo.

mine are factory standard bi-xenons but i'm after white AE's

even close up, the factory ae's blend, ccfl is BRIGHT

You are missing my point ... when you stand back and can see the projectors as another car sees them, the projectors are exceedingly bright. That is as it should be.
Stand close up between two projector lights and you don't see diddly squat.
