One of the perks of living in South Florida

BIMMERPOST

Though my wife and I still have some doubts about living in Miami, even after several years here, the fact that I can drive the 1M anytime during the year is definitely on the positive side...

Happy holidays to all!!

Good luck with the moral dillemma of being too close to South Beach!

happy holidays.. and yes.. as native resident of the Hoosier state, I very much appreciate TX weather this time of the year.

Well on the other side of the country ... it's 75F in Santa Cruz California today. No complaints but we need some rain!! It's been a year since we've had any decent precipitation.

Bought from another member here....but Amazon has them for $260.

The only upside to storing the VO is it's like getting a new 1M every spring!!

I'll be in Ft. myers in a week but driving some crappy rental car!

I live in the northeast and can drive the 1M all year. Just use the right tires, think safe and its fine.

My car is also in Hibernation for the winter under the same car cover with a battery tender to keep the battery charged. You guys on both sunny coasts suck!

for all of you that stored your car longer than 3-4 weeks, just make sure you occasionally moved/drive the car/or roll the tires, so they won't square/form/deform lol
tires are mucho dinero to replace.

Fook you all! Real men drive their 1Ms regardless of conditions (circa February 2013):
Yes there is a 1M under there:

^ Wow that is a a bunch of snow! I'll show this picture to my 1M and see if she would prefer living here compared to her garage under the car cover.

Last year I had Blizzaks but they were slightly smaller and ran the odometer faster. I'm trying to avoid mounting this year as I have a winter beater ('96 318i sedan that has Goodyear snow tires). I almost got bagged this morning getting it stuck on a flat level surface on some fairly worn rear PS2s. Gawd I'm cheap. But I had been waiting for the backordered PSSs from Tirerack, and the release was yesterday and will be in my installer on Monday. I'm torn do I slap the Blizzaks on and bite the bullet for a few months or mount the PSSs and just not drive it. Yes I store the car in the open.

I'd mount the Blizzaks. I don't know what the glass transition temperature is for the Michelins, but if it gets cold enough, probably colder than mentioned below, it won't be good for them:

Wow! Great link from TireRack about storage.

Another reason to mount the Blizzaks: the PSS or PS2 Michelins would not soften up, even at high speed due to cold temps. This would lead to terrible driving dynamics; add in some snow / ice and you've got a setup for one less 1M.
