Used BMW 2011 335is or 2012 135i?

Looking for some advice on my purchase. Unless something else comes up in the next 2 days I will go ahead with one of the following 2 vehicles. Both vehicles are spec'ed similar (m sport package, DCT and premium package), no nav/idrive and both are AW/black. My plan is to use these cars as daily (12-15K/year). After 2-3 years I might buy a cheap daily and use the BMW more as weekend car.

2011 BMW 335is ($41000 tax&lic incl, 20K miles, early lease buy out)

2012 BMW 135i ($39700 tax&lic incl, 6K miles)

Do you think the prices I got are fair? For 2 years I was convinced going for the 135i but since a couple of weeks I have been thinking that the 335i might be a better option since it is a bit bigger. On the other hand the 335i will consume more based on what I read which on a yearly basis will be a significant amount. Other than that, I do not expect a big difference in operation costs. The 335is will be a lease buy-out, any idea how long this process will take?

I also wanted to avoid having the N54 engine. The 335is has an improved (?) version so does this mean the reliability issues have been solved?

Anything else I missed? I know this is a 1 series forum but some objective input would be appreciated.

Do you plan on modifying the car? Because if you do, the N54 has more potential than the N55. Because of that, I would personally go for the 335is.

No modding plans. Reliability is key to me and both will be fast enough

Then the 135i is probably the better choice, longer warranty, more reliable engine.

Get the 135i then install PPK kit and you are back in the same BHP as 335is, beside 135i is a light car compare to 335is.

I've not run the numbers but you can compare the retail vs trade in value and see if you need to bring down the asking price.

The 335is is $1300 below what the owner needs to pay to BMWFS if he buys out the car now.

Man I would do the 335is because of the N54, if the 135 had the N54 I would get it, but since your not moding get the 135 lol... so tough to decide I'm pulling my hair for you

I do not need the extra HP from the is, the only reason I'm looking at the 335is is because of the DCT. If the regular 335i had DCT I was looking at that one.

Yeah, you can get the 135is with DCT, but the 135is is only a 2013 model.

Let me rephrase that, isn't DCT an option on any N55-engined car?

Nope, on the facelifted 3 series it was still the good old steptronic.

I'd go for the 135. BMW's heritage (and what they know best) are small, efficient cars. The larger the car, the more they are outside of their core DNA.

Drive them both. Asking people on forums what car you want seems kind of silly. Everyone is different and have different preferences. Both are great cars... Just depends on your needs man. Good luck!

I would choose the 335is since it looks better and also has N54.
