N54 Mid pipe VS N55 Mid pipe Comparison VS Meisterschaft

Did a comparison on my car with both setups.
Miestershaft Install this week

N54 Midpipe AKA STOCK SETUP

No modifications to any part of vehicle

N55 MID PIPE changed only (STOCK OTHERWISE)




N55 Mid Pipe Meisterschaft Rear Section




With AR Downpipes

Why didn't you mount the camera in the same location for both runs?

The N55 sound very similar to the Berks.

Its a huge difference IMO.

A lot more exhaust note inside the vehicle also, which I love as it is not my DD.
Gurgling and back pressure note is crisp clean and sounds clean.
No raspy sound, and retains all OEM parts

The N54 midpipe is resonated and catted

The N55 midpipe is only resonated.

Seems to open up slightly. now that the miestershaft is in its NIGHT AND DAY power increase.

This seems to be either a stupid question or brilliant... but...

Why not just save the cost on the midpipe and just have a muffler shop cut the cats out, straight pipe it, then go to the scrap yard and make your cost back with selling the cats? why waste all that money on a factory midpipe?

For me personally, I wanted the option to easily return to stock. If it weren't for that damned sheared bolt, I would have had mine swapped out in under 45 minutes and I was alone and not moving with much of a purpose.

It's less time consuming to swap out the midpipes as opposed to performing the modifications you're suggesting. Most people can do the swap by themselves where as only a few have the equipment and experience required to cut and weld stainless steel pipe.

I guess. Wasnt suggesting a DIY, just to have a shop do it for them. My local muffler shop charged 50 bucks to cut out the two cats and weld in straight pipes in their place and then I tunred around and made more than that at the scrap yard selling them my cat converters.

"Levels" are not checked in NY. Readiness and no-CEL is checked via OBDII, a visual is performed which is a joke. Our exhausts are not sniffed. The front cats are good enough to pass even a sniff in a tree hugging state, the rear O2's are upstream of the secondary cats.

And should you be concerned about getting caught out, doubt you will come unstuck, just change em back over in no time......easy task to do and well worth the small outlay as it looks totally oem.
