Front Plate Tickets For Out Of State?

Car is registered in CO, however I am curious if I'll get a front plate ticket from the meter maids in LA. In CO, they don't check at all if the car is from out of state as long as the meter is paid.

Beware my friend - Los Angeles Parking Enforcement are a bunch of NAZI's.

Seriously.. I went to a show a few years back without a front plate. Paid the meter. Returned to find a ticket on my windshield. For a second, I thought I paid the wrong meter!

Looked at the ticket and it was for no front plate... seriously?

Good to know! I was going to ask a meter maid next time I saw one too. I'll just rig up a parking mount like I've done for my past cars.

I've lived here for 4 years, tags on both my cars are for Florida and I've never had a problem.

AZ doesn't require front plates. Are you telling me that every out-of-state visitor from AZ is going to get a ticket from a meter maid? I'll take your word for it, but I would guess that "My home state doesn't require it" would be a pretty good defense for getting the ticket thrown out.

For the OP: remember, CO requires front plates . . . you could always toss it on the dash when you park?

Right, so CO does require front plates... but I can't imagine the meters spending time to look up and see if an out of state vehicle requires plates. But maybe LA maids are different. All I know is I've parked Idaho and Minnesota cars (both require front plates) in CO with no front plate and the Denver maids never gave any attention.

Plate requirement is a traffic code item. Meter maids do not enforce traffic code. You may be stopped by the local traffic enforcers but they really can't do anything if you are an out of state visitor. I am from Florida and was stationed in California and was pulled over a couple of times. Never got a ticket because the car was registered in Florida and my License was as well.

Could come in handy...

When I first got to Cali, I didn't have the front plate. I got pulled over for speeding (~90 in a 75) and the awesome cop gave me a fix it ticket for the front plate and a VERBAL warning for the speeding.
