israeli 1m's

any israeli 1m's on this forum? I saw my first 1m near hertzeliah in VO. it took my breath away. I was shocked to see it because cars are marked up double or more in isrel because of taxes and importing fees (importers have a monopoly on the market) of course nobody in the car with me thought that the 1m was anything special (it looks like a normal bmw to them). Just wanted to share and was wondering if any israelis were on here

So everyone in your car thought it was 'nothing special' and it looked like a 'normal' BMW. Cool story, thanks for sharing!

Shavivs (Shlomi) reported that his AW 1M cost him $125K !

The VO 1M of urban_alchemist was initially the only one around in Israel (delivery in August 2011 upon special request): "I had to do a lot of nagging and convincing at BMW - I started six months before the official announcement - but finally they managed to secure a single car for Israel, and it should be arriving in port in less than 48 hours!" About his choice for VO: "My wife didn't give me a choice. It HAD to be VO - no way she was letting me get either a white or a black BMW (code for "a$$hat" here in Israel)..." I remember a few other Forum members who own a 1M from Israel, can't remember the names now, not so active members; so probably not just 2 cars. Ismotind who had a thread about the final production numbers is also from Israel but I am not sure if he owns a 1M.

Yes, it was probably me (although the car tends to live in central Tel-Aviv, it does occasionally make it as far north as Herzliyya ).

The polarisation of reactions you describe seems to be quite representative. I've had the car for a year now and it can go days without being noticed at all. Then, I won't be able to move without getting mobbed by passersby.

I had a guy yesterday stand infront of the car on Ibn Gvirol and block my route. He refused to get out of the way until I agreed to fishtail it away from the lights... As if there's any other way - the streets are notoriously slippery, and the 1M's awesomely torquey...

Unfortunately you have to be a rich man to have one here .
the insurance is about 2800 euro per year and the 20'000 KM included
front brakes cost me over 1'000 euro .
very expensive but all the good things in life are expensive

thanks alot, weird that I have only seen 1 1m ever on the street, and it wasn't in america I see tons of exotics but not the 1m for some reason.
