What can you use to clean the oil catch can?

Can you use WD-40?

I'd use brake clean. WD-40 would probably be fine as long as you washed the WD-40 out afterwords, but brake clean would do a better job and you wouldnt have to wash that out afterwards.

I would recommend using diesel. It's cheap. It has three times the level of detergents when compared to gasoline. And it's virtually flame proof at normal pressures. Diesel is also good for flushing out the intercooler.

Diesel? Really? Okay, that's good to know.

You did answer a question that I was going to ask. I do need to clean the inside of a intercooler and I wasn't sure what to use. People have suggested gas, acetone but if diesel is better, I will try that. Thanks

Why does it need to be cleaned at all? Can't you just empty it and be done?

I used to work at a shop where the detail guy used kerosene to spray on alloy wheels and then use a pressure washer to blast off the old brake dust. I always thought that was nuts. Maybe not. ?
