I searched around the forums and the interwebs in hopes of finding an answer and got none; so, hopefully, maybe someone can provide me with some guidance.
Got the 135i this past saturday and was a bit disappointed to find that my iPhone 5 doesn't work (I have a bluetooth audio unit coming but I'd still like to find a way to get some sort of old iPhone/iPod to play audio directly as a dedicated source). I got my friends old 3GS and to my dismay, after restoring it, updating to iOS 6 (had to since it was corrupted cause of a bad JB), putting songs on and plugging it into the car, nothing. (Non-GPS). It never recognized a USB device plugged in. It recognizes my OLD iPod 2nd generation from 1000 years ago but the files organization in that is so awful most songs appear as unrecognizable assortment of letters (ie IJBXY). Any idea as to why the 3GS isn't working? Maybe I'm being super noob and missing something here but I can't quite figure it out. Thanks for your time and help!

Have you tried uploading the latest software? www.bmw.com/update
Punch in the last 7 of your vin, download the bin, load onto usb, and update software via usb on your car. Takes 2 minutes once you plug in the usb. Not sure if this software applies to non iDrive but there is a number of updates since 2011. In fact the latest is just a couple weeks old. |
