Smile Is-F vs 135i

So I saw the comparison video of the M3 and Is-F on the track:

But the M3 didnt win.. the M3 is half a second faster then the 135i but the 135i is lighter so I was wondering what do yall think of the comparison of the 135i vs the Is-F? How would they do against eachother??

if is-f was available in stick shift i'd get it. i love japanese quality and reliability - everything is thought out better and the lexus customer service is top notch. But auto just doesn't get me excited in day to day driving.

^^ +1
BMW build quality and reliability are over rated and customer service is very inconsistent from dealer to dealer. That said I love my 135( I put up with BMW because I love the car). BMWs have personality. You have to modify a personality in to a Japanese car.

Head to head the IS-F would win. Too bad it is only auto and a 4 door.

hmmm, so you guys above would also never own an R35 GT-R if you could ??? as it only comes in automated manual form...and more and more cars are going that way

I wouldn't keep the fact that's it's an auto only stop me, remember it's set up to perform

In time, eventually the traditional stick shift manual will be totally phased out - what then ??

Oh and stock v stock I-SF > 135i

Modified though would be interesting...

My boss got an IS-F about the same time I got my 135i vert. He was coming off an E46 M3 vert manual so he knows about handling.

I have driven it as well and it is not a mom car by any stretch of the imagination. It is a monster. When the V8 hits 4000 rpm there is such a great sound coming out of the pipes it's amazing. It also completely hauls ass and handles. It is the first Toyota made vehicle that lets you hang it out and turn off the safety nanny.

Don't underestimate this vehicle. It is tight.

You can put me on that list, if I am going to buy a sports car it is going to be stick shift with a clutch pedal.... just my preference of course.

Buddy has the new M3 and an ISF. He says the ISF is faster than the M3. This was confirmed with numerous tests.

The V-Spec is supposedly going to be a real manual transmission. But after seeing the r35 live I was completely disgusted.

the r35 is one hell of a car , but it does look like butt. it reminds me of a g37 will a cheap ass wide body kit. it has all the numbers of a super car, but no sexiness

It certainly isn't an 8C competizione in the looks department but it sure is one hell of a performer. Remember, some people say the same thing about our 1's. Their completely wrong though.

That's a good point Philberglass

Alot of manual only diehards comment, but have never actually driven a car with a good auto trans or one of the many automated manuals, alot of the comments are personal opinions

Although I'm also a manual person, I have driven many an auto and appreciate the many good things about them, afterall, hi end hi-po car manufacturers would not be using them if they weren't any good, would they

Also interesting pics and education above of cars with 'discontinued' tail end pipes - in the case of the Veyron, the exhausts are actually under the car, facing downwards and terminating at least half a meter behind the rear diffusor...

What are you supposed to do with eight gears?? I'd get lost.

edit: watching this proves to me, personally, why it's not a car I'd ever compare to a 135i OR M3 for that matter.

correct. i like to drive the car, not just steer. otherwise, it's just a fast couch. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

and saying is-f>135i is very conclusory with no real analysis. The 135i is much more involving and exciting to drive. I mean if you've never had a fast car b4 i can see the allure of just going for the fastest 0-60 numbers - but to me, its the way you get there.
