Removing the Rear Exhaust Section ...And Driving???

I am getting ready to install my Dinan exhaust. but want to remove the rear exhaust section, so I can make the cut with the exhaust off the car. I'd like to remove the exhaust tonight in order to do it in stages, however, may not get to it until Saturday.

My question is - will I experience any ill effects to the car/engine or the flange, heat shields, or ANYTHING by driving around with it removed?

I can imagine at idle it would get hot right there....

Did you remove your exhaust yet? I have an OEM exhaust in my garage. You can borrow it, or cut mine and swap it for your OEM once you get the Dinan installed. I could meet you at the Abacoa Publix with 10 minutes notice.

Nope.
As long as you still have your downpipes and O2 Sensors in place, you should not have any negative effects. It'll be very loud and the underside of your car may turn black from exhaust but if you don't get pulled over for noise violation, you'll be alright.

Aside from the sound, it should be fine. If you have local cops that are against aftermarket/modified exhausts, im sure they wont love a FULL muffler delete (literally).

Aside from the unbearable noise, it wont damage anything.

Gotcha. My only thought is if you remove the axle-back, the midpipe is not very well supported from about halfway back. You may hear the midpipe bounce around over bumps. Also, the midpipe ends in front of the rear axle and pretty close to the differential. Don't cook your differential seals.

It's so funny that you just asked that. I was about to start a post asking the exact same thing. My point is, in contrast, if you are adding nothing more than more piping and some tips, why not just remove the rear section entirely? no tips could be even cleaner than the aftermarket options (if you're into that look). Would it be any louder than a muffler delete?

Much more drone IMO. You'll almost be sitting on the end of the pipe

Might be fun to remove the rear section for that next night at the drag strip.

No exhaust is a good exhaust with a turbo. It'll just be stupid loud.

Funny you guys bring this up. Here's some WOT for you. It actually sounded really good. tried to move back at the end so it wasn't so distorted.

but yes, it was loud, lol

You can get carbon dust and soot build up on the bottom of your car near where the exhaust ends, but you should be fine for a few days.

Wow gents....just finished.

I will try to take vids. Once I put the Dinan on, I definitely want to explore a cutout if I can generate the same sound.....removing the exhaust from the axle awakens the beast within....
