How can I get my HPFP replaced under warranty

So my HPFP is gone... I get limp mode, long cranks etc...

anyway dropped the car to a certain BMW dealer beginning with T and ending with rivett, and they said they need to charge me $209 an hour to diagnose what could possibly be wrong with the car...

I get a call back later in the day and they say the fuel pump needs to go however it's not covered under warranty due to my dual cone intake (forgot to put the stock airbox back on)... I said that doesn't affect fuelling and he said it affects the air flow or something, but i wasn't going to argue over the phone so I said I'd get back in touch.
Long story short they are quoting $1,600 for new hpfp + labour

Any ideas how I can get it replaced under warranty? Even if it meant putting oem airbox back on and going to another BMW dealer?

(Procede was removed from the car and all codes were cleared with procede a few days prior to dropping the car off and then I hit limp mode a few times without the procede so as to store a few codes)

Garage List
man that sucks

iirc hpfp is purely warranty, surely someone on here has had it replaced under warranty with intake mods? it's unlikely that cones could cause an hpfp failure unless the increased airflow makes the car ask for more fuel and puts the hpfp under more stress... not sure how the system works

$209/hr is cheap! bmw chatswood wanted $220/hr to track down a rattle.

Buy mine... no HPFP problems and still 2 years warranty

Didn't the 120d confuse them?!?!

Go to another dealer after putting stock airbox back. Try Northshore... they 'warranty' fix everything! I thought HPFP is now under 10 year warranty?

Ha! Not sure if they noticed the 120d badge or not, doubt they would of...

N55s still have HPFP issues though...

If I cant argue for it to get fixed under warranty I'll either:
a) put stock airbox on and take it to another dealer
b) buy the HPFP myself and DIY install.

I would say that the BMW dealer network shares information.

if b), HPFP may require coding??

Isn't the HPFP around $USD 450?

Then advan or DYI.

Cant believe any dealer would refuse a HPFP replacement even on a car with meth. Glad I did not get extended warranty.

Doubtful, Porsche Australia doesn't have the info from individual dealerships unless it is sent through for something. So the dealers 'don't talk to each other'. I had someone trying to track something down for me, the scope of it is unless the car has been to that dealership there isn't a record of it in their system.

I imagine BMW is the same, Mercedes is, or was as well.

If that is the case then should try a different dealer and go from there!

Can't do that in Perth as there is only 1

Duel cone intake contributed to the HPFP shatting itself? lol remember to take it off and try again with another dealer. Theres no way you should fork out a HPFP whilst your cars under warranty.

It would be interesting to know. If they don't log modification against a VIN and share it country wide, there's nothing to stop modders from moving to the next dealership and trying again on a warranty claim.

Totally agree with you mate... from what i can see from each dealership is that they full hate each other and always being competitive towards one another...

and if the networks are linked should we all pay for the same for all BMW services?

new plan (after arguing my case that DCI doesn't affect HPFP at all) is to put stock airbox on and go to another dealer... if they blame it on the charge pipe, welll..... stock charge pipe and try another dealer.

OH DEAR
They like playing hard ball don't they, playing that way they only loose clients and the outrageous prices they charge i left my AFE intake on and my bmw dealer replaced mine no questions asked.
The pumps are only $278.90US at ECS tunning.
Do we get warranty on the pumps for 10years like our usa cosines.
