Replace rear tires only with PSS?
So after 11,000 miles, the rear stock tires on my 1M are at the wear bars. My front tires are still at 6/32nd's with nice, even wear. This seems to be about the same pattern as with my M3 - I went through one set of front tires for every two sets of rear tires.
I really want to replace the PS2's with PSS's. What are people's opinions on having PS2's on the front and PSS's on the rear? |

Someone else posted the same question awhile ago.
I am more of a " if they are black and round" then you can make it work kinda guy... So you won't hear any complaints from me. Another option would be to pick up a set of PS2 rears that are slightly used... You actually might help save some tires from a landfill as well as save a few $ of your own. I have a friend locally that seems to be at a 3:1 rear to front ratio, and he has used the opportunity to expirement with larger tire sizes in the rear.

You're fine as long as you have the same tire on each axle. I only changed out my rears with PSS. I also went up in size to 275.

None at all. My only regret was getting 35 profile instead of 30. The 35s make the front fender gap more noticeable. I could also noticed the increased rear height from my seating position.

My opinion based on my experience..
I am on my third set of all four @ just over 17k. The first time I replaced them I went with OEM, PS2's; now I have the PSS and the difference is quite noticeable/ worth the change! The softer sidewall of the PSS really bends/gives more so than the PS2 allowing for even more, "pushing to the limit," especially when cornering. When I exit/ corner now, I notice I am able to do so a little earlier than with the PS2's. You are not restricted/ limited to the stiff sidewall of the PS2! Go PSS!
