Im running 255s on a 9.5 inch wide rim and 225s on a 8.5 inch rim with no problems what so ever. I think u may want to try a different shop, they mustve had too many shots of hennessey when they were mounting ur tires.

that seems like a waste of barrel width if you're going to use such skinny rubber on them. 245's on 8" rims was almost right, maybe a slight mushroom. I can't imagine putting less than 245 on an 8.5" rim, but I abhor the look of a stretch.

Still nothing from OP... It's funny when you over-react to a situation without actually knowing what's going on and are now "out $1000" because the shop doing work for you sucks...

Offsets are irrelevant to a tire holding air or not. If I had to guess, OP got the standard E82 offsets from them at +45/+45 or +50

The problem is clearance in the front. People need to dial in added camber to fit some 235/40s in the front. All 245s need some serious camber even with the proper +45 offset in the front.

Lots of the E9X wheels can look ok with the right suspension. 9.5 ET40-45 in the rears fits pretty aggressive without needing to dial in too much camber. Lots more for semi-concave wheels in that area. Forgestar wheels let you buy an exact offset. It's not even crazy expensive.

I'm currently looking at 9.5 ET45 in the rears. I definitely have a preference to the look of busy rims on BMWs, specifically the Breyton GTS-R, Apex ARC-8, VMR VB3, V703, V710.

Are you lowered? Stick with a 45 front and 50 rear. Some people run 45 rear but rub a bit. Might want to roll your guards too

45 is still a little aggressive if you truly dont want to do any fender work or aftermarket camber adjustments.

If you want the widest tires possible (265-275 rears), the best fitment wheels are the Alufelgen SF-71/CS7 line which come in 19" diameters. 18x8 et45 and 18x9 ET48 fit perfectly.

Also the Apex ARC-8 come in proper offsets of 18x8.5 ET45 and 18x9.5 ET62

There are only a few wheels actually designed to fit the rear fenders of the E82 platform. The 9.5 ET45 just so happen to "fit" with a little fender work if you want wide rubber and no rubbing.

It didn't work for me, results shared here for others to take how they will. Moving up to slightly larger tires completely alleviated my problem.

Very possible. It was easier to just jump up to another size rather than trying to limp over to another shop etc.

Again, these are the same guys that have done all my other tire work so I don't see why I would suddenly have problems with them. Like, as in the same actual guy.

If you're going to jump onto arguably the biggest forum for these cars and make a "warning!" type thread like this about a wheel manufacturer who's produced more wheels for euro cars than almost any other company, you're gonna catch some heat for it. Especially since your "solution" isn't one that actually makes sense.

So again, why do YOU think increasing tread width by 10mm solved your issue? I'm curious.

The OP's title is screwed up, it should read "Shop warning" instead. I'm local to you. If you want the name of a good shop then let me know.

But don't slam VMR until you figure out what's wrong. VMR makes good wheels for good prices. I've had 3 sets with no problems. And VMR was one of the first vendors to support e82 off-sets.
