Tinsta's 1M conversion...

Purchased a nice spec MY2009 135i with the all important N54 engine and a 6spd manual transmission.

I do like the DCT, but as my other cars are auto, I felt I was beginning to get too lazy and missed the old gear change interaction.
Space Grey exterior paint which is really nice (and compliments CF parts
I did compromise on the red interior seats, as I'm not a fan of them personally..had plans to remove those and add buckets.

The car already had a few modifications from the previous owner, but as I soon realised they weren't carried out with the best intentions. Something I've learn't modifying cars over the years, do it right 1st time and don't go with cheap basic mods! Quality modifications will always last!

Modifications now:

Engine mods :
JB4 ISO5
BMS induction
Forge BOVs
ER Chargepipe (long)
RB PCV
ER Competition Oil coolers
Wagner Evo1 FMIC
Wagner downpipes
Lightweight titanium 1M exhaust
BMS cowl filters
TD Stage 2 turbos
RB turbo inlets
BMS Meth kit
Spec 3+ clutch

Exterior :
Genuine BMW 1M conversion with all OEM parts
Front wings, Front bumper, Rear quarters, Rear bumper, 1M wing mirrors, battery tray
GSR Carbon replacement roof
Slek front carbon splitter (to be fitted shortly)
Slek rear carbon diffuser
Scorpp double sided carbon bootlid
Scorpp GTS style carbon wing
RZ style double sided Carbon bonnet
RZ style Carbon Side skirts

Wheels & Brakes :
Apex ARC-8s with 9.5x18 ET22 fronts and 10.5x18 ET27 rears
Yokohama AD08R tyres f: 245/40/18and r: 285/35/18 (will go bigger next time)
Alcon 6pot 365x34mm front BBK
Alcon 4pot 343x28mm rear BBK
Goodridge SS brake lines
RBF 600 brake fluid
OEM Hardware stud conversion

Suspension :
KW V3 coilovers with clubsport camber plates
ARC front & rear CF strut bars
E92 M3 DCT rear LSD and subframe conversion
Hotchkis front ARB
E92 M3 rear ARB
Custom full geometry setup
weight TBC (last time it was weighed in at 1440kgs)

Interior:
BMW Performance seats (with heated function)
BMW Performance v2 flat bottom steering wheel
BMW Performance SSK
Rear seat delete
Boltin custom Halfcage
Schroth 4pt Harnesses
Revosport Carbon door cards with alcantara inserts

It is quite an extensive mod list and looking back I could have purchased a genuine 1M, but then I would have wanted to mod it and thus potentially hurting its resale value. This 1M clone is now best of both worlds, one that I will be keeping in my collection, it just so enjoyable to drive

I originally did not plan to do a 1M conversion, but as I fitted the ER oil coolers, the larger oil rads were very tight within the arch liners (even though I trimmed them a fair bit), the ANC oil hoses were catching on the corners. I had Apex Aero7s 8j fronts with 225 ad08rs. Having a wider front track is always good too. Reading the conversion threads made it easier to understand and do.

The rears with 9j 265 ad08r's were also slightly catching the arches (even with arch rolling). Wider rear track for better grip and traction is always good too.
I also wanted a lighter better flowing quad exhaust. Getting a custom SS quad system was pretty much on-par with buying a nice 1M off the shelf system.
My old quad system wasn't the best flowing for maximum flow, bends weren't smooth. OEM downpipes with cats removed were also restrictive and heavy.

A few recent pics :

Car still needs to be dropped alittle in height as its been up on axle stands for a few weeks, whilst things were being fitted and fixed. Will be checked and adjusted when getting the geo setup.

One other thing, SpaceGrey 1Ms look great! BMW should have offer more colours, Avus Blue would be awesome too.

thanks for reading.

Good to see you finally threaded this. It's been a hard slog to get it finally sorted. You must have excellent contacts to get all the all the OE arches etc sorted LOL.

She is a thing of beauty for sure and certainly commands attention.

Space Gray / Black combo has always been one of my all time favorites. Very nice job.

Looks amazing. Just sold my 11' 135i for my 14' 235i..

Now I have been toying with the idea of picking up another 1 for a conversion soon, after seeing so many.

Thanks for the comments guys, yep it was alot of work. Certainly one of the biggest car related projects I've done but as L'Oreal says 'She's worth it!' :P

Will go through the pics and get some in-transformation ones uploaded.

Looks sweet! Now I have insight as to what mine will look like when done hopefully soon. Now this has me stoked and now I definitely can't wait to get mine done.

You need a CF roof like mine and I need your taillights!

Hahah cool, thats good to hear. I have a carbon replacement roof (was the first thing fitted back in nov2014). Darklines make all the difference!

Will get it weighed in a couple of weeks, when the geo is setup.

Will get some pics of the interior shortly, and some vids, going to the drag strip tomorrow to get some 1/4mile times

This car is beautiful

Have you considered a front lip? Revozport or Lightweight would look great on this color.
