The Official Give Us A BLUE 1M Thread!
It seems like I'm not the only one that is passionate about BMW offering a shade of blue on the 1M.
This sentiment seems to be spilling out into threads that have nothing to do with color quite often lately, so I thought it would be best to create a thread dedicated to getting BMW's attention on the subject. Post in this thread if you are seriously considering a 1M and having a shade of blue offered is important to your purchasing decision. If we can get enough attention with this thread maybe BMW will reconsider and offer a blue! Last edited by HBspeed; 05-23-2011 at 02:39 AM.. |

The Blues
I would like to see a blue too. Monte Carlo, Carbon Black or Interlagos. I think it would definately need to be an M specific blue, though carbon black was available with m sport packaged e60's. It would be very cool if BMW offered the car with only the colors in the Motorsport emblem. If colors had to be limited for pricing. Naturally, a blue would exist. That kind of detail would be special.

As long as having fewer color options reduces demand for the car, I'm all for the three colors (or less!) Plan. Sorry. I'd just like the opportunity to buy one of any color @ msrp

I totally agree - those look great and BMW should offer up the 1M in Blue.
But then BMW should offer the 1M in Silver, Gray and a Red as well... Why not have a unique-yet-comprehensive color palette for M-cars only? I guess the point I'd really like to make is that IMO building this car in only 3 colors is not some sign of exclusivity. It is arrogance, akin to "any flavor you want, as long as it's Vanilla..." Hey, why not lose the AW and JB and make it in Orange only? There might even be 2700 buyers out there to whom it just doesn't matter. Then again... To me, color is personal, emotional and it's the 1st detail that presents itself on any car. If you tell me your car is pink I won't even ask what kind of car it is. Please, BMW, make Valencia the 1M's Dakar Yellow, but please not at the expense of the beautifully standard color pallette available on just about every other BMW made. There, I feel better now... |

I'd be all over any of the metallic blacks but Jet Black needs too much attention to keep it looking good

BMW is claiming they want to make a car similar in concept to the E30 M3. But I remember the M3 coming in some unique colors, as well as the standard ones. I remember lusting after a Salmon Silver 88 M3, and plunked down my money, only to have the sales guy come back and tell me the customer that was ahead of me, just put his money down first. He offered me the Alpine White/Cardinal Leather car at a great discount, so that is what I got. But every Salmon Silver car I saw from then on, made me wish I had waited longer. Henna Red was also a unique color. (IIRC)
Don't forget that the first M5 came in Black only. I am not sure what the reasoning is behind only having 3 colors. Was that ever explained? Having a variety of colors can't possibly cost more.

Limiting the colours now gives the future 1M's greater selling points. I'm sure there are a bag of reasons why BMW chop and change colours seemingly seasonally, but this I'm sure is one of them.

I would think more colors would appeal to more customers. Certainly Jet Black and Alpine White are not unique. I am not sure how limiting non unique colors (except of course the Valencia Orange) gives more "selling points"?
